Remove all doors, drawers, handles and hinges. Number each location.
- Scrape any loose paint, fill scratches with patching compound.
- With a strong cleaner, scrub to cut through grease and dirt. Once finished, dry so that water doesn't damage wood.
- Use a medium-grit paper, sanding until surfaces are dull.
- Remove sanding and brushing residue with a damp rag or tack cloth.
- Prime your cabinets, doors and drawer fronts and allow to dry overnight.
- The key to achieving a professional finish with a brush is to use very thin coats.
- Reinstall the hardware and hang each door according to its number.
