The concept of engineering has been around almost as long as the concept of war and military. It is one of the most necessary fields that we have whether you live in the United States, Europe, Italy, Russia, etc. In all of these places you are going to find all different types of engineers that do all sort of different things. There are those that don't know exactly what engineers do however, and that is understandable because you hear about them doing all sorts of different things, so in this article we are going to clear up what different types of engineers there are and what they do.

First on the list we have the Civil Engineers. These are the ones that are probably the most important to you because they maintain transportation systems such as bridges, dams, airports, and even roads. Bridges are incredibly important; not only are they expensive to build, they also require a lot of engineering knowledge and they need to be made perfectly so as not to endanger the lives of those who happen to be crossing them on a daily basis. At the lowest tier of civil engineering one could expect to make $50,000 per year. At the highest one can expect $90,000 per year.

Electrical engineering includes power grids, telephone systems, broadcasting, and many other things. These are the people that keep us connected and they make about the same amount of money as the civil engineers, coming in at $55,000 for an entry level, and $90,000 for a seasoned professional in the field.

Aeronautical engineers are those who work with technologies such as defense and space. They also maintain military aircraft and the like. This is the dream job of every child aside from actually flying the aircraft. These engineers get paid a little more, entry level making about $60,000 per year, and the highest level making about $100,000 per year.

Industrial engineers are a huge influence on industry, as you might have imagined. They do their best to ensure that the manufacturing world provides quality products, and that everyone benefits from those products in the way that was intended. As an industrial engineer you will make $50,000 at entry, and $70,000 later on.

Environmental engineers do their best to take care of our environment. They try to keep water clean, and keep pollution out of the air. They also make sure that our air is quite breathable, and as you can imagine this is a heavy task to be burdened with. The salary does make up for it however, considering that it is about $50,000 per year at entry level and $78,000 after you gain enough experience to be called a veteran in the field.

The last major one to note is the Mechanical Engineering. Mechanical engineers deal with manufacturing and machines. It's a difficult job, but it does pay well at $54,000 per year at entry and $85,000 later on.

As you can see, engineers make a huge impact on our society, and maybe even in ways that you were never even aware of until today. It really is quite amazing when you think about it, and what's even more amazing is the level of education required to enter any one of these fields, but that's another story for another day!

What I liked about the service is that it had such a comprehensive collection of jobs! I was using a number of sites previously and this took up so much time, but in joining EmploymentCrossing, I was able to stop going from site to site and was able to find everything I needed on EmploymentCrossing.
