We have an opportunity to join the Alliance as a Service Desk Technician IV in the Technology Services Department.
There is one position open for recruitment and it can be filled in either our Salinas or Scotts Valley offices.
WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
Reporting to the Service Desk Manager, you will act as a Service Desk subject matter expert (SME) and work closely with cross-functional Information Technology Services (ITS) teams to provide advanced level technical and operational support to internal customers. You will also act as a technical lead to the Service Desk team, accept advanced technical escalations and resolve or escalate issues.
ABOUT THE TEAM
The Alliance Service Desk team makes sure computers run smoothly for staff and provides technical support for Alliance systems.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE
Is knowledgeable of Microsoft operating systems, including currently supported Microsoft Windows desktop versions
Is customer service focused
Is able to communicate technical things to non-technical audiences
Is personable, approachable and patient
Is a self-starter and is driven to research, learn and solve problems independently
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a closely related field
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

Knowledge of:
Methods of supporting Microsoft operating systems, including currently supported Microsoft Windows desktop versions
Methods of supporting hardware issues related to PC desktops, laptops, and overall system performance
Applications commonly used in Windows, including Adobe Acrobat, Winzip, GoToAssist, GoToMeeting, Edge, Chrome, FTP and SFTP
Networking devices, such as switches, firewalls, routers and wireless, and mobile devices, such as laptops, Android, Blackberry and iPhones
Methods of supporting virtual desktops and of virtual desktop platforms, such as VMware Horizon
Active Directory
DNS, DHCP, GPOs, SMTP and WINS
Ability to:
Quickly learn and competently navigate all Alliance systems
Quickly learn relevant server operations
Act as a technical lead and resource to the Service Desk team
Act as a subject matter expert, explain processes and programs related to area of assignment, and provide guidance regarding the most complex Service Desk issues
Assist with the development of policies, procedures and guidelines
Interpret, apply and explain policies, regulations, terms and procedures
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent
Minimum of five years of experience in a computer operations environment which included hardware and software support and administration (an Associate’s degree may substitute for one year of the required experience); or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be qualifying
OTHER DETAILS
While this position is connected to our Salinas or Scotts Valley offices, most positions are in a remote work environment right now due to COVID-19. The interview and onboarding process will be completed remotely
This position may be required to work onsite before, or after, Alliance operations resume in the office. For this reason we are only considering candidates who are able to work in-person at either our Salinas or Scotts Valley offices
This position may require travel to our Salinas office if candidate is based in Scotts Valley
