Job Description:
What's the role?
The Rotating Equipment Engineer will provide rotating equipment technical support to maintenance and operations. The role will develop the long term plan for rotating equipment in assigned area, including upgrades and maintenance strategies. This role will provide key department functions such as proactive technical monitoring, RCM, and quality assurance.
The Rotating Engineer is expected to deliver:
Provide input to the Business Planning process for Capital and Expense budgets; develop and maintain a 10 year schedule for major overhauls, upgrades, and repairs including expected cost and downtime
Work with production teams and maintenance on outage planning and scheduling
Improved performance and reliability of rotating equipment in assigned area
Measure and track MTBF/R for equipment in assigned area
Provides technical assurance on equipment for Management of Change
Provide input and continuous improvement to the RCM program
Below are the key areas in which the Rotating Equipment Engineer is responsible for.
Operations Support
Ensure operating procedures are in place for critical equipment.
Ensure operational rounds are clearly defined for rotating equipment integrity
Rotating Equipment lead during operational upsets or planned/unplanned outages
Critical Work Processes
Identify and risk assess threats to safe, stable operation of rotating equipment
Provide Tech Assurance for Management of Change for rotating equipment
Develop and continuously improve Equipment Care Strategies for rotating equipment
Support the RCM process for rotating equipment
Problem Solving
Provides rotating equipment expertise on root cause investigations.
Champion the Learner Mindset when approaching technical issues.
Seek to understand the cause to prevent recurrence.
Maintenance Support
Provide technical support for scope development Develop the QA/QC plan. Provide Quality Assurance on critical repairs.
Support the planning process for maintenance execution.
Support operations in developing decontamination plans in order to preserve equipment.
Responsible for auxiliary system plan and functional testing
Provide assurance that learnings, changes, and repairs are properly documented in the Integrity Management System.
Technical Delivery
Engineering support for the Vibration Analysis program, providing technical assurance for program settings and management overview of alarm settings.
Provides engineering support to condition monitoring specialist on System 1
Develop equipment monitoring requirements
Develop monitoring templates and apply to critical equipment
Provide contract owner/holder responsibilities for various contractors
Rotating Equipmenti. Identify and eliminate performance and integrity issuesii. Identify growth/margin projects, develop business proposals, and execute through projectsiii. Maintain a technology implementation plan to improve reliability, process safety and efficiency of equipment. iv. Identify opportunities to implement, develop business proposals, and execute through projects v. Review and summarize history of the critical machines vi. Responsible for performance monitoring and testing. Develop, review, and verify performance programs and Models vii. Ensures equipment files are up to date and complete
Consult on investigations
Participate on HAZOP and PHA.
Perform technical proactive monitoring on critical equipment
Support inspector on updating Bill of Materials
Support the Refinery and Chemical Sr. Rotating Equipment support engineer on site items
Design and repair equipment using industry standards, site standards and best practices.
Skills & Requirements
What we need from you -
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Minimum Bachelors Engineering Degree or equivalent in technical/engineering discipline.
Minimum ten (10) years in the industry, preferably including work in Operating Units
Experience with Rotating Equipment supplier supervision
Vibration Diagnostics, ability to analyze and diagnose machinery vibration
Experience with Rotating Equipment Support for Operation and Maintenance
Surge Testing skill and experience
Experience in Plant Turnarounds, Maintenance, Start up and Shutdown
Experience with relationship and contract management of OEM’s and contractors
Experience in HSSE and quality management
Experience with Rotating Equipment Construction, Installation, (Pre) Commissioning and Testing
