The Associate Engineer will work with a team of information security professionals to help protect Best Buy's intellectual property and customer information. They will be responsible for effectively analyzing relevant event data and other information sources for attack indicators and work to provide detections, corrections, and the implementation of countermeasures as required to ensure protection of enterprise assets. The Associate Engineer will also be involved in the maintenance and operation of the suite of controls.
The Attack Surface Management (ASM) Associate Engineer will be responsible for enhancing and executing the ASM Team's technical risk management capabilities to better manage vulnerabilities and technical configurations across Best Buy. This includes enhancing and automating ASM tooling, optimizing team process execution, and building, expanding, and executing our cloud and containerization ASM capabilities.
Core Responsibilities
Strategy/Direction
• Identify, address and escalate vulnerabilities as needed
• Receive feedback and direction from higher-level employees on resolving issues when needed; seek feedback/guidance on work
• Involved in resolving/researching incidents of varying scope/impact
• Serves as subject matter expert for program/area of responsibility and associated processes, practices, initiatives, etc.
Design / Architecting
• Support designing and creating solutions based on current state/vendor roadmap and under direction of higher-level employees/leaders within team
• Understand how the designs/solutions fit into and apply to the broader enterprise; work across multiple applications/capabilities/systems and with increased level of complexity
• Involved in and/or leads/guides lower-level employees on design implementation
• Influence or contribute to the strategy/roadmap for internal department
Collaboration / Leadership
• Work with and respond to day-to-day work direction from higher-level employees, provide direction to contingent workers and other internal partners as needed
• Act a technical/operational mentor to lower-level employees; seek guidance and feedback from Engineers and Senior Engineers
Identify Gaps/Opportunities
• Understand and identify potential enterprise gaps or vulnerabilities
• Make recommendations on how to close/resolve gaps (to both external/internal partners/leadership)
• Internally develop tools
• Understand potential of tools and how they apply to other capabilities
Basic Requirements
• 4 years of experience in infrastructure/cloud/security engineering, operations, and/or administration
• 2 years of experience working with one or more cloud service provider platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Preferred Requirements
• Experience working with secure systems configuration management
• Experience working with vulnerability management
• Experience in process automation and associated tools/techniques
• Experience working with containerized environments and/or container security configurations and controls
