Position Summary
We are searching for a Materials Lab Engineer to elevate Under Armour’s state-of-the-art materials testing laboratory. This role supports UA’s development of high-performance materials & product in Apparel and Accessories. A member of the Innovation team, this position adheres to the brand’s material & finished good standards, conducting essential testing and analysis to provide objective information on the brand’s latest technological developments. The responsibilities include conducting physical & mechanical testing, accurate analysis of test results, assisting in the development of new testing methods, and effective communication of results & analysis to a cross-functional development team. Lab Engineers also contribute to the transfer of innovation technologies to the Product teams.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Efficiently and accurately conduct a full battery of physical testing on materials and finished goods in a laboratory setting to characterize performance and inform the Innovation team on its technological developments.
Prioritize, organize, and execute testing and analysis to ensure the deadlines of all stakeholders are met; communicate conflicting timelines in advance when necessary.
Accurately input all test data into Under Armour databases allowing for analysis of findings and historical reference.
Effectively report and communicate test results to Innovation & Product Development teams and/or other key stakeholders.
Assist the Innovation team in validating marketing claims, utilizing testing methods if necessary.
Assist in updating and manuals and procedures for materials and testing.
Participate in the preventative maintenance of lab equipment to ensure instruments remain operational and accurate; communicate issues as they arise.
Work closely with a multitude of cross-functional teams (inline, biomechanics, field testing, development, etc.), relaying appropriate findings and information in an objective and clear manner.
Learn and apply new technologies, processes, industry trends and changes in test methodologies where applicable.
Re-evaluate appropriateness of test requirements for intended end use of material types as needed.
Assist in the communication of UA’s test methods and material requirements to partner suppliers, including first-hand training to key partners.

Education And / Or Experience
BS in Textiles, Materials or Related Engineering Field (Mechanical, Chemical, etc.)
Or 3 years of laboratory or related industry experience
Other Requirements
High level of expertise with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
Basic understanding of Quality Management and Statistical Quality Control concepts and practices, based on work experience or study.
Experience with SolidWorks (recommended, but not required).
Experience with using MATLAB for data processing (recommended, but not required).
Knowledge of material characteristics, construction techniques and production processes.
Knowledge of industry-specific testing methodology.
Current knowledge of industry testing methods/standards (SATRA, ISO, AATCC, ASTM, etc.).
Salary and Relocation

Salary Range: $70,000-$96,000
