Responsibilities:

Provide support for the automated systems supporting plant and facilities operation across BMS. This includes implementing automation standards, as well as providing technical expertise to sites’ automation support team.

Work within all Site Facilities, which requires one to give a high attention to detail and on occasion to properly use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Although this is primarily a day shift position, support of 24/7 manufacturing operations will require off shift “on-call” coverage (nights and weekends), on a rotating schedule.

Decision Making:

Works on problems of diverse scope in which analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Exercises judgment with in generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Acts as an advisor to subordinate staff to resolve problems. Develops performance requirements and evaluates subordinates accordingly. Establishes and recommends changes to policies which affect subordinate organization. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve goals results in additional costs and personnel, and serious delays in overall schedules.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals and processes to meet objectives. Work is reviewed by management to measure meeting of objectives and schedules.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

Direct 0 – 4 Exempt

Experience/Skill:

BS in Chemical Engineering, a related engineering field or its equivalent.

Specific technical skills with including a minimum of 5 years experience in the Pharmaceutical or Biotechnology sector.

Specific technical skills with including a minimum of 10 years experience working with control systems, DCS and PLC, in a qualified environment.

Expert understanding of S88, S95 and batch processing operations required.

Understanding of engineering documentation such as P&IDs, process flow diagrams and standard operating procedures.

Experience managing schedule and resources on large projects

Excellent communication skills including oral, written and formal presentations.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.

Ability to work effectively in a fast paced multi-tasking environment.

Ability to troubleshoot control systems from the field element up through operator interfaces and databases.

Experience with DeltaV and Syncade preferred but not required.

Experience with control system networking technologies and PC networking technology preferred but not required.

Experience working with SQL, Server, Oracle, or other relational databases preferred but not required.

Experience with Visual Basic scripting

Preferred but not required.
