What We’re Looking For:
While this role is primarily a leadership and people management role - there is a significant amount of tech work involved - architecting new technology solutions, ensuring that your team is following best practices, and occasionally - getting your hands dirty and writing code for a tight deadline.
You’ll spend your days working with the developers on your team and assisting them with solving complex problems, participating in planning and cross functional team meetings and architecting new solutions. Also - learning is a two way street - just as you would teach things to your team, be open to them teaching you new ideas, methodologies, etc…
This position will primarily oversee our development squads that focus on our on ground student experience and career service offerings
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:
Manage a growing team of full stack developers
Grow your team - provide an environment where Jr, Mid, and Sr level developers are constantly learning, evolving and driving for the next level in their career.
Support your team - dive into the code if needed, help them negotiate tough tasks, teach them something new and remove distractions so they can focus on their roles
Architect advanced technical solutions
Lead the planning, execution and success of complex technical projects
Work closely with product management to ensure we're building the best products and delivering functionality in a reasonable timeframe
Foster an environment of definition and adoption of best practices, from frameworks to APIs and back end design and development
Encourage, Promote and Adopt QA into the development lifecycle including both automated and manual testing
Things That Should Be In Your Background:
Minimum experience 8 years or equivalent knowledge/experience
Minimum experience 3 years at leading teams of developers
Experience with continuous integration (CircleCI, GitHub, Automated Test Suite)
Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements
Experience with GoLang
Experience with GraphQL
Strong technical and design capabilities
Proficiency with JavaScript core language features and functionality including ES6 and ES7 features
Understanding of practical uses of mobile first design and HTML, the use of tools like Sass and authoring modular CSS (CSS modules or PostCSS)
The ability to listen, question, and process ideas other than your own in a respectful and collaborative environment
Knowledge of best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and deployment
