We are hiring a Software Engineer I

on Best Buy's Solr Cloud Platform Team. The Solr Cloud Platform team creates and maintains a platform that makes it easier for teams to productionalize a Solr Cloud cluster to leverage text searching capabilities. As a member of this team, you will gain expert-level knowledge in Apache Solr and will evolve the platform to establish patterns for teams at Best Buy to leverage many different aspects of Apache Solr. Team members contribute to all aspects of software development and delivery.

Responsibilities:

Independently complete small, somewhat ambiguously defined features and fix defects.

Begin to mentor new team members.

Focus on learning to attain expertise in one or more areas.

Consistently follows stated best practices and guidelines.

Participates in the technical design of features with guidance.

Can triage simple issues independently and complex issues with some assistance in both production and locally.

While independent work is expected, knows when to ask for help in order to get unblocked.

Knows how to prioritize their own work and avoids getting caught up in unimportant details.

Minimum Qualifications:

1 or more years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree, Associate’s degree, or Coding Bootcamp OR equivalent relevant professional experience

Preferred Qualifications:

2 or more years of relevant professional experience

Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field

Experience developing web services (REST, HTTP, JSON)

Experience working with Spring Framework

Experience working with Search Engines (Apache Solr)

Experience working with Messaging Middleware (RabbitMQ, , Kafka, Cloud Pub/Sub)

Experience working with Spring Integration

Experience working with Docker

Experience working with Linux

Experience working with open-source software

Experience working with React

Experience working with NodeJS
