The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for assisting the Program or Project Manager in scope, schedule and cost monitoring and control, communications management and documentation control during the execution of a project. The Assistant Project Manager ensures accurate and timely reporting of project status via PPM, Tableau and other approved business systems. This person works closely with IDS HQ and location/GM teams (O/I, Operations, HR, SSO, Engineering and Performance, Finance, Legal) to facilitate the development, control and consistent application of IDS project management processes and methodologies. The acquiring of the PMI certification is optional to be assigned to this role, yet is encouraged as a demonstration of dedication and commitment to self improvement and performance enhancement. This is typically a 1 year assignment, in which all the training and learning tasks must be completed in support of a dedicated coach.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Controls:
If in place during the pursuit stage, assists the bid team in integrating good project management practices into the bid document.
Assists the Program or Project Manager in planning activities by developing a complete project execution plan as specified in PPM.
Works with a planner to develop a detailed schedule and cost baseline for the project. If a planner is not available, the Assistant PM a will have to assume this role.
Ensures compliance to IDS Project Management standards and processes as officially published in InTouch (IDS PMO page).
Works with the planner to monitor the schedule against all project activities during the life of the project including the construction / installation phase.
Evaluates options for schedule improvements and resource planning and advises the Program or Project Manager on a continuous basis.
Develops metrics for the project and tracks project performance using applicable earned value management principles.
Tracks costs and links cost tracking system to accounting system.
Assists in tracking resources, especially personnel to ensure activities on the schedule can be completed in the planned time.
Tracks work scopes (SOW) to ensure deliverables are being produced to the required quality as specified by the customer.
Monitors Project P&L and economics and reports status to Project Team.
Contract Review/Supplier Management:
Acts as project's control manager supervising the Procurement Management function.
Supports the Program or Project Manager by reviewing ensuring compliance to the contract throughout the life of the project.
Advises the Program or Project Manager of contract highlights and potential pitfalls.
Ensures all suppliers and contractors are sources as per SSO guidelines -Supports the management of 3rd party contracts on the project. Supports the Program or Project Manager in variation / changer order administration.
Risk Management:
Reviews and maintains the project risk register in the IDS approved business system.
Assists the Program or Project Manager in the monitoring and tracking of risks and reports lessons learned as risk are managed.
Liaises with domain managers and Product Lines to ensure interfaces have been addressed for planned activities.
Performs qualitative and quantitative assessments on risks, including the project schedule to properly project milestones.
Document Control:
Acts as project's control manager supervising the Document Control and Communications Management function.
Ensures that project document control and numbering is set up per the Project Quality Plan and that document control is implemented.
Assists the Project Engineers with project document control by receiving and sending all documents and drawings corresponded between the client, vendors, and the project team.
Ensures that communication plan is followed and that all stakeholders are receiving the information they need regarding the project.
Works with the Project Secretary/admin/technical assistant to ensure that all project documents submitted to the client and vendors are properly numbered and have the proper revision and that all vendors (including the construction / installation vendors) are manufacturing to the latest revision.
Ensures that all project documents are properly archived and that the Project Information Management System is being utilized.
O/I:
Implements SLB and IDS O/I requirements.
Supports the Program or Project Manager in ensuring proper Quest reporting of project incidents. Follows up with Team Leaders to ensure proper closure of actions. -Enforces O/I and HSE processes and standards in the project -Oversees project team training and development progress and status.
People Development:
Oversees overall training progress of all team members, and communicates development strategies to the HQ/DG teams. strategies to the HQ/DG teams.
Qualifications and Experience:
5 years of experience in Oil& gas or Field
BS in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering
PMP certification desired
SLB experience preferred
