Kroger Labs has an opening for a Technology Transformation architect and research analyst with a background in artificial intelligence or video analytics. The mission of Kroger Labs is to help create new and innovative solutions in Grocery Retail Operations and Analytics. Kroger Labs focuses on research, technology innovation, proof-of-concept activities, technical marketing and business development for novel technology solutions, leveraging Kroger's technologies and 3rd Party solutions, to reinforce Kroger's adoption of emerging technologies.We are seeking engineers/scientists/researchers to build technology outlooks, strategies and roadmaps. The succesful candidate will spend time working with the development teams as well, building novel video analytics-based solutions for retail, specifically video analytics as a component of evidence accrual and context computing systems. The successful candidate will work on identifying opportunities for technology intervention and tranformation, looking beyond solving the immediate challenges to build a foundation and roadmap to technology adoption. This position is a perfect match for a visionary engineer/scientist/researcher who is passionate about empowering society and feeding the human spirit through the tremendous potential of emerging technology and systemic innovvation.QualificationsMust have a Masters/Bachelors degree in Computer Scienceor in a related engineering field, or commensurate experience and proven delivery.At least 5+ years of practical and research experience in one or more areas (artificial intelligence, video analytics, machine learning, streaming analytics, IOT sensor technology, robotics). Comfortable working across multiple disciplinary teams both internal and external. 3 to 5 years of experience as a consultant in the IT field or comparable industry experienceDemonstrated ability to liaise between business, technology, academia, student, vendors and government teams.Demonstrated understanding of technology management frameworks and operating models. Must be confortable with developing, authoring and presenting forward looking communications across a variety of mediums. Knowledge and experience in data engineering, data and analytics architecture would be a plus. A background in systemic innovation would be a plus. Must have passion and ability to pursue customer-driven research, and present outcomes to various stakeholders/customers.Must be a strong team player-collaborate with a broad team of researchers and developers with diverse backgrounds.Looking forAbility to collaborate and communicate with technical resources to understand issues and challenges. Ability to communicate and liaise effectively with business teams, technical teams, and vendor teams to drive operational efficiency, protect the business, and mitigate technology related risks.A history of publications or presenting on innovation, change management, technology transformation would be a plus.  POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for participating in the design, development, testing, debugging, maintaining, and documenting software components in accordance to Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) best practices. Establish estimates and work plans for design, development, implementation, and rollout tasks. Communicate with the appropriate teams to ensure that assignments are delivered with the highest of quality and in accordance to standards. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS *Develop a high-quality codebase, lead design discussions, execute development against design, and navigate complex codebase *Responsible for development implementation of technical design within a defined set of teams. Execute against defined technology roadmap to support project portfolio and business strategy *Participate in implementing enterprise standards across domains: operations, infrastructure, data, applications, development, security & risk, and business continuance *Provide technical clarity between ongoing projects and the strategic objectives of the company *Drive digital innovation by leveraging innovative new technologies and approaches to renovate, extend, and transform the existing core technology base and IT estate *Implement high-level migration plans to address the gaps between the current and future state solution *Lead the analysis of the technology environment to detect critical deficiencies and recommend solutions for improvement *Mentor team members in software development principles, patterns, processes and, practices *Must be able to perform the essential job functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation

MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a STEM major *3+ years of successful and applicable hands-on experience in software or infrastructure development domain and principles, including design patterns and code structure *3+ years of proven track record of designing and delivering large scale, high-quality systems *3+ years of successful and applicable experience taking a lead role in building complex software ad automation systems that has been successfully delivered to customers *Strong knowledge of industry trends and industry competition *Proven ability to think and contribute at the strategic level *Demonstrated written, oral and presentation/public speaking communication skills *Understanding of network and security architecture *Deep knowledge in a minimum of two of the following technical disciplines: infrastructure and network design, application development, application programming interfaces (APIs), cloud, middleware, servers and storage, database management, and operations

DESIRED PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION *Any experience in system architecture *Any experience in Cloud software service including designing for scale, performance and reliability *Demonstrated capability to build, mentor and maintain an inclusive team-based environment *Experience building solution using elastic architectures (preferably Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform)
