Why this role matters

Vonage Senior Software Engineers design and develop our next-generation, cloud-based unified communications platform. We operate in a very dynamic environment with fast-paced turnaround times and active collaboration with other team members, product managers, QA and Ops resources using the Agile methodology. Our Senior Software Engineers are well equipped with full-stack application development experience. This includes micro-services, databases, cloud-based technologies, APIs, etc.. Background in VoIP technologies, protocols, and open-source platforms proves very helpful in this role. This team actively challenges each other to be innovative and passionate about tackling new problems as we continue to push technology forward.

Where you will work

While we are currently working remotely, we have plans to return to our Holmdel, NJ office on a hybrid schedule. Only candidates that are authorized to work in the USA without sponsorship will be considered at this time.

What you will do

Design and develop a wide-range of distributed, robust real-time and high-volume production applications for UCaaS platform, and develop prototypes quickly.

Ability to choose the appropriate technology based on the need.

Develop software using best practices including aspects of test, deployment and operations.

Apply innovative thinking to all functions of development.

Ability to complete individual tasks end-to-end independently but working with a larger team to accomplish bigger objectives.

What is required for application

5 years of experience in Software Development

Proficiency in at least one of the following languages:

Java

, C/C , Python, SQL

Strong understanding of

VoIP

(SIP/RTP)

Familiarity with Relational (MySQL, Postgres) and No SQL (Redis,Mongo) database technologies

Experience working with cloud-based technologies such as

AWS

Linux Systems knowledge (performance tuning, basic networking, file systems)

Comfortable with version control systems (Git, SVN, etc.)

Experience with

Agile

Development methodologies

Knowledge of open-source technologies (Freeswitch, Asterisk, OpenSIPs, Kamailio)

Familiarity with PBX features
