What’s the role?
On a day-to-day basis, your role will be, together with your team, to pull together UPU’s annual business plans for CAPEX $3-4 billion annually. You will also be accountable for compliant resource volume bookings and directly supervise 10-15 capable individuals over two locations (Houston and Calgary).
More specifically, your role will be:
To manage the team accountable for delivering operating plans, economic input/assurance and efficient, compliant and effective year-end or in-year resource submission
Reserves wise: to continually challenge both reserves reporting efficiency and effectiveness, leveraging global lean continuous improvement opportunities
Planning wise: to manage a team of economist/development planners delivering strategic long-term forecasts, analysis, and development scenario support to the assets, strategy group, and UPU leadership team
To be a planning focal point for driving ongoing asset performance management tracking and input to post-investment reviews
To be held accountable for driving continuous improvement efficiency, effectiveness and synergies with the goal to streamline support to assets by leveraging global support and digital capabilities.

What we need from you
When it comes to being effective in this role, it's your personal skills that will make all the difference. You’re a thought leader and team player - someone who can bring out the best in others, build communities and encourage sharing of knowledge and best practice. You balance your capacity to address detail were required with an ability to understand and drive the strategic levers of the portfolio.
We are keen to hear from men and women who have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably in Petroleum Engineering, however, we will also consider other backgrounds such as in geoscience, economics, planning, etc. We value relevant and in-depth experience in operating plans and/or reserves estimation and reporting. Beyond that, we’d hope to see as many of the following as possible on your CV:
Extensive leadership experience managing a substantial team with a leadership style that values differences, demonstrates courage and self-mastery and motivates, coaches and develops individuals
Proven track record of building a shared vision, championing customer and stakeholder focus and delivering through others
Evidence of championing continuous improvement and simplification
Demonstrable track record of high-quality, on-time, within budget project delivery. Strong interpersonal skills and passion for personal safety
Understanding of key value drivers of a successful (Unconventionals) business and ability to articulate portfolio choices in light of uncertainty to create a strategic plan
Experience in Unconventional Shale is strongly preferred, with a good understanding of end to end delivery, field development and its connection to resource booking
