Job Description

About the Commercial Voice Product Engineer Role:

The Commercial Voice Product Engineer Role for Commercial Voice Product Engineering team supports architectural design and execution of new services and product solutions for the commercial voice product suite. The role involves support and deployment of UC Communication Apps (Webex, MSTeams, VED, etc.... ), support of certification, deployment of Advanced Voice CPE offering for Hosted PBX product line. This role supports enhancements to BroadWorks Device Management platform, design, deployment, and support of Comcast's Hosted PBX over small/mid-market business, tier IV escalations from support teams, and focusing on operational excellence to reduce/remove customer impact/impairment. The role will partner with other engineering and systems organizations to define and drive architecture roadmaps, detailed designs and vendor/internal deliverables and plans to meet solution delivery.

Key areas of expertise include SIP, SIP over TLS, mobility, Voice over IP, RTP/SRTP, Voice Applications and feature interworking, UCaaS (WebRTC), mobile voice and Over-the-top Applications, Voice CPEs, Audio/Video codecs, DIAMETER, SS7, CALEA, SIP peering and network protocols (SMTP, POP3, IMAP, SNMP, NTP, DNS, NTP, HTTP) Session Border Controllers (SBCs), Security Protocols (TLS, SSL, IPsec, VPN, RSA, Kerberos, SAML, OAuth) etc.

Also assists in certification planning, deployment planning and execution and operational support, including end-to-end troubleshooting for root cause analysis identifications and defect fix support.

What You'll Do:

Serve as a participating Engineer for all aspects of the solution including architecture, detailed design, configuration, monitoring, testing, feature interworking, and redundancy and reliability models.

Interface with Engineering leads, QA teams and Operations to review new product/service requests and applications to define technical requirements, use cases, scenario models, and implementation designs.

Work with other Comcast organizations to define operational model and tools to be used to monitor and maintain the new service/product offerings.

Work with the vendor engineers to ensure service solution can be implemented efficiently.

Maintain professionalism while performing all job duties. Accept and act on all escalations within area of responsibility.

Co-author and maintain detailed design documents.

Plan and execute on Operational Readiness Testing and integration of product into production.

Author and maintain methods of procedures for change management maintenance activities in production environment.

Perform product and software upgrades in production environment following strict operational guidelines.

Additional assignments and responsibilities may be assigned from time to time.

Required qualifications:

Minimum 4 years of experience in telecommunications in large-scale carrier networks.

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering or related technical field, or equivalent work experience.

Strong experience with VoIP Protocols (SIP, RTP, SRTP, SDP, H264)

Knowledge of Voice and Video Codec, including HD (G711, G722, H264, Opus)

4 yrs strong Broadworks experience

4 yrs Ribbon SBC administration experience

4 yrs Linux OS support

2 yrs Experience with UC collaboration software applications (Webex, Microsoft Teams)

2 yrs Experience in unified communications infrastructure and systems analysis/design

Experience with IP networking (QoS techniques, routing protocols, security)

Experience with UC Clients & platform (SDK, WebRTC, UCaaS)

Support experience with the following additional protocols (DHCP, DNS, NTP, SNMP, HTTPS, POP3/IMAP, TLS)

Familiar with Security Protocols (TLS, SSL, IPsec, VPN, RSA, Kerberos, SAML, OAuth)

Experience developing and operationalizing CI/CD environments.

Proficiency in documenting Technical Design documents/artifacts

Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills.

Ability to work and deliver under the pressure of deadlines and commitments to the customer.

Demonstrates professionalism in all areas of work.

Proficient at time management and meeting deadlines and flexible with changing priorities
