Our team is searching for a dynamic Plant Manager to oversee construction and start-up of a brand-new, highly automated food manufacturing facility in Bowling Green, KY. In this role, you will create a driven and diverse leadership team to guide plant activities, cultivate a strong culture and meet business objectives for the $8 billion Prepared Foods business. You will be accountable for all aspects of plant performance and ensure that objectives are attained in a cost-effective manner consistent with quality requirements (including food safety and compliance). You will also be responsible for delegating authority to key supervisors in production, manage all functions involved, and direct and coordinate operations for the processing plant, employing approximately 450 associates.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Plant Manager is highest level leader within the facility and is responsible for the plant holistically, driving the production process to meet the demand of our valuable consumers and customers. We will look to you to build a collaborative and creative environment between operations and the rest of the organization. You will have a relentless focus on creating a safe environment (food and team member safety), production efficiency, product cost and continuous improvement. You will be dedicated to creating a plant culture that’s a reflection of our enterprise values, ensuring a focus on talent retention, team member development, and driving business results the right way. This highly engaged and detail-oriented role will require strong technical, leadership and enhanced communication skills that you will use to balance competing priorities, problem-solve, and work with a diverse body of stakeholders across a company.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: During construction of the facility, you will serve as a critical member of the plant start-up team. Your leadership will be relied upon to:

Provide support to Engineering/project team, including on-site support during equipment installations

Participate in design review meetings and contribute to decisions on holistic plant layout

Communicate with local and city officials on permitting

Coordinate functional support groups in the approval of room functionality

Lead the implementation of plant HR, Safety, Continuous Improvement and MRP programs

Once the facility is constructed, your mission will be to ensure the production and delivery of quality products on time and in the safest, most efficient, and cost-effective manner. Specific focus areas include:

Manage daily operations in our plant to achieve annual business plans

Ensure safety and efficiency of the facility

Control costs to achieve annual budget goals

In partnership with Human Resources, develop strategy, programs, and tools to drive a high performing, effective organizational culture. As the key driver of the plant’s culture and retention efforts, this role will be responsible for implementing programs that achieve these outcomes in a way that creates inclusion and embraces Tyson’s 5C’s: Caring, Candor, Creativity, Collaboration and Commitment.

Test and monitor plant processes

Analyze and issue production and performance reports

REQUIREMENTS OF THE PLANT MANAGER

BS in engineering or technical field strongly preferred

10 years of proven leadership in manufacturing operations. Applicable Experience in Food Processing Industry Preferred.

Experience within high volume manufacturing operations

Experience in materials management, manufacturing engineering, warehousing, distribution, purchasing and planning.

Proven Lean Manufacturing skills (Daily Management, Kaizen, Gemba, 5s, etc.)

Familiarity with regulatory requirements for operating plants

Strategic, analytical, and conceptual problem solver, with the ability to investigate the details and interpret the impact of key business drivers; detect patterns and trends across disparate sources of data; creatively analyze unfamiliar problems; and synthesize the so what's out of analytics and KPI’s. Superior strategic thinking and decision-making skills. Strong financial acumen coupled with broad business/operations experience.

Aptitude for equipment operation and troubleshooting

Proficient with MS Office

Leadership that yields inclusion and engagement of all team members in the plant to achieve targets and improvements in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Environment and Working Climate

Ability to develop and maintain strong, effective internal customer/business partner relationships.

Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), interpersonal and influencing skills.

Must possess self-awareness and a proven track record of success.

Sense of urgency and ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.

Ability to travel up to 25%
