Individual Medicare Advantage (iMA) Model Solutions owns the MA pricing model (.NET app hydrated via t-SQL), which generates annual pricing of Humana's largest segment of business, individual plan Medicare Advantage. The team consists of actuaries and business professionals who are proficient with t-SQL and databases. The team works closely with a team of IT professionals on the pricing model to support CMS bid filing and regular forecasts of Humana's MA business.

Responsibilities

iMA Model Solutions is seeking a Senior Data Engineer that will add bench strength to the maintenance and, more specifically, the enhancement of this pricing model. This role requires significant coding experience, leveraging that to optimize and automate processes within the model.

Long term, the expectation will be to apply gained business knowledge from optimizing/automating the pricing model to our business partners' tools and processes.

Key responsibilities are:

Convert processes requiring manual steps in Excel today to SQL, saving time and effort to update going forward.

Optimize SQL code of the model where there are known performance issues.

Coordinate with actuarial and IT staff to ensure all work is prioritized, planned and scoped appropriately.

Work closely with software developers (both business and IT) to ensure impacts of planned software changes are evaluated in accordance with accepted agile/waterfall development processes and communicated across departments.

Automate steps to cycle through test data, saving time in bringing enhancements to market.

Work closely with the business team, customers and IT to collaborate on technical solutions.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field

3 or more years coding experience in t-SQL, SAS or comparable languages

Technically savvy, demonstrated ability optimizing and automate code, including developing new processes.

Experience with relational database design and management

Can effectively communicate technical concepts to a broad range of audiences including customers, business partners and IT

Preferred Qualifications

MS Azure Cloud experience

Experience working with IT

.NET specific experience

Experience working with healthcare data

Additional Information

Vaccine Policy:

Humana and its subsidiaries require vaccinated associates who work outside of their home to submit proof of vaccination, including COVID-19 boosters. Associates who remain unvaccinated must either undergo weekly negative COVID testing OR wear a mask at all times while in a Humana facility or while working in the field. Work-At-Home Requirements:

WAH requirements: Must have the ability to provide a high speed DSL or cable modem for a home office. Associates or contractors who live and work from home in the state of California will be provided payment for their internet expense.

A minimum standard speed for optimal performance of 25x10 (25mpbs download x 10mpbs upload) is required.

Satellite and Wireless Internet service is NOT allowed for this role.
