AMETEK MOCON, part of the Process & Analytical Instruments Division, is a global leader in gas measurement technology.
MOCON Permeation Instruments are used to measure the oxygen, water, and Carbon dioxide transmission rates through barrier films and packages. MOCON’s Dansenor Package Testing products are used for quality assurance and quality control of packages that are protected with a controlled gas composition. MOCON’s Baseline Industrial Analyzers and Sensors are used in oil & gas, industrial & specialty gas, toxic gas, and environmental applications.

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer applies expertise and knowledge to technical projects while finding innovative and cost-effective means to improve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity within a manufacturing and service facility. Responsibilities include planning, developing, evaluating, and conducting current state analysis and leading the implementation of projects towards future state objectives. Lead efforts to integrate new products into a production environment.
Key Duties and Accountabilities:
Work in a collaborative setting, utilizing knowledge of commonly-used Lean and Six Sigma tools and techniques to eliminate prioritized waste within the value stream.
Identify, prioritize, and lead Operational Excellence initiatives while providing cost oversights and ability to track and communicate savings
Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow through efficient process design and equipment layout.
Create and execute project plans with regular communication with stakeholders. Includes risk identification with mitigation and contingency planning.
Create, analyze, and update documentation necessary to convey highly technical information in a manner that can be easily absorbed and executed by the mass population.
Provide oversight to operation/routing times associated to given process.
Create, review and execute responsibilities relating to the ECO process.
Provide technical, process, and training for production personnel.
Design and Develop tools and fixtures to aid in ergonomics, poke-yoke, and productivity.
Identify and drive opportunities to improve product repeatability and reproducibility.
Research, recommend, and implement new and innovative manufacturing techniques.
Conduct detailed feasibility studies for proposed equipment and systems.
Develop business case and ROI justification for recommendation and procurement of additional equipment used to improve the manufacturing capabilities and capacities.
Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate the production processes.
Understand and communicate VAVE opportunities through collaboration with the product engineering team.
Lead efforts to provide DFM recommendations and technical support during new product design.
Position Requirements:
Bachelor’s of Science degree in engineering (Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical)
5 years applicable experience in a manufacturing, assembly, and testing of electromechanical products.
Proficient with 2D and 3D CAD software.
Proven strong problem-solving skills including root cause analysis, data analysis and technical aptitude.
Proven ability in Project Management
Proficient in Lean and Six Sigma tools and Methodologies
Proven ability to train and motivate employees at all levels
Experience working with the entire MS Office Suite.
Proficient in the use of ERP systems (Epicor preferred)
Preferred Experience
Experience with configurable products within a manufacturing environment
Experience relating to production of scientific testing instrumentation
Experience with system and equipment controllers (PLC, PCBs)
Experience with production automation equipment specification and implementation
Lean Manufacturing Certification
6-Sigma Certification
Project Management Certification
Experience with Design of Experiments/Taguchi Method
