Job Summary

Responsible for validating product quality by analyzing and testing the quality of the codebase. Makes decisions affecting architecture of the test codebase including which software to use for writing test code. Focuses on writing code that will be executed in an automated and repeatable fashion which will reduce manual testing efforts and increase code quality and consistency. Develops and maintains code that validates front-end, middleware and database systems, using the latest tools and common programming languages. Provides input into various software development lifecycle stages. Partners with software engineers to write efficient automation code using coding standards and best practices. Executes automated code and creates comprehensive execution reports for team. Repairs complex broken automation scripts and performs peer reviews of automation codebase. Has in-depth experience, knowledge and skills in own discipline. Usually determines own work priorities. Acts as resource and mentor for colleagues with less experience.

Job Description

Responsible for Performance Testing and monitoring new and existing software and web applications in a 24x7x365 global environment. Documents all Performance Testing and Operations activity working in an agile team progressing aggressively in 2-week sprints.

Core Responsibilities

Write automated test code, using the same standards as a Software Engineer, that allows for repeatable, reliable testing solutions to test the wide functionality of products and software, maintaining automation codebase in a version control system (GIT, SVN). May include creating simple SQL queries for validation of databases and / or writing SOAP and RESTful API automated scripts.

Create automated testing documentation, including Test Plans, Test Summary Reports etc.

Execute automated test scripts and presents results to team.

Analyze broken test cases and diagnose and repair to working order.

Perform code reviews of automation scripts and front-end codebases. Diagnose and repair simple bugs within production code.

Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as vital .

Must be a strong team player, an excellent communicator, and possess and display a positive attitude. Must be able to learn quickly through self-guided learning.

Ability to comprehend, participate and contribute in discussions related to technical requirements, software designs, demos, acceptance criteria, functional test results, technical manuals, monitoring plans, support strategies, and any retrospective recommendations.

Manage Testing environments for Performance testing of various programs/projects.

Identify use cases for Performance Testing Support. Prepare Test Data. Requirement gathering and workload model preparation.

Performance Test Script maintenance, enhancements, execution/Troubleshooting.

Load Test execution, troubleshooting and analysis.

Assists in the roll-out and monitoring of software releases.

Provides technical leadership throughout the Performance testing process and guidance with regards to practices, procedures and techniques. Serves as a guide and mentor for junior-level engineers.

Displays in-depth knowledge of engineering methodologies, concepts, skills, and their application in the area of specified engineering specialty.

Displays in-depth knowledge of, and ability to apply, process design and redesign skills.

Displays knowledge of, and ability to apply, project management skills.

Participates in training representatives and other staff on internally developed software applications.

Key technical skills and significant experience required are: MicroFocus LoadRunner, JMeter, Service Virtualization using Parasoft Virtualize, strong knowledge of End to End Performance testing, understanding of JVM architecture, exposure to micro services, knowledge of any JVM Profiling tool, SQL, knowledge of any APM (application performance monitoring) tool, knowledge of any NoSQL database, knowledge of any Open source logging and monitoring tool, knowledge of any CI/CD tool, knowledge of Unix commands and Linux OS, Cloud Technologies

Key technical skills desired are: Oracle, Couchbase, Cloud Technologies (AWS, Microsoft Azure and/or CloudFoundry), AppDynamics, Elastic Search Logstash and Kibana (ELK), GoCD, Concourse, Ansible, HAProxy, Jvisual VM
