Our Quality Engineers are the lifeline for our products. Not only do they act as customer zero but they are also the best advocates for the high quality bar and the best customer experience that all of our products must meet. Our team focuses on the quality engineering of all Portworx products and releases. We aim to provide a complete set of testing infrastructure and data platforms, including hardware support, control plane and datapath testing system & frameworks, analysis platform etc. We are looking for a lead engineer who has system testing, CI/CD and test automation experience to join our team. You will collaborate with various stakeholders, like other Architects, Engineers, Program Managers and Solution Architects. You will also get to interface directly with customers and Product Management as a quality representative for development and enhancement of products. This position has direct visibility to the exec staff, thus presenting a unique opportunity to influence strategic decisions and learn.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING...
Managing the responsibilities of a quality technical member and working with the team to deliver our products with highest quality and the best user experience which includes
developing test plans and test strategies for multiple releases and automating the tests identified;
Building reference architectures that closely match customer deployment configurations and validating real-world use cases for container data persistence (In other words, build solutions that run real-world application workloads and ensure our product meets customer expectations for their applications);
Work with cross functional teams to identify root causes and provide assistance with reproduction work on Customer Escalations;
Testing and validating Portworx software with container orchestrators such as Kubernetes (on-prem and in the cloud), Docker Swarm, and DC/OS; containerized data services such as Cassandra, Elasticsearch, Kafka, and MySQL; and container run times such as Docker;
Working with product teams to understand the product quality issues and build up and scale out of complex system tests using virtualized environments and various test tools.
Writing technical blogs, working with product marketing to generate outbound customer-facing documentation and updating customer facing documentation as necessary.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO BRING TO THIS ROLE...
MS in Computer Science or related technical field, BS with comparable experience;
10 years of experience doing and leading product quality testing, automation and application based solutions;
Experience testing large-scale, enterprise class products related to storage, networking and/or virtualization;
Strong experience with Linux systems (network configuration, web technologies, system settings, common command/utilities);
Extensive time working with Linux containers and Kubernetes;
An eye for detail and ability to foresee risks and mitigate them;
Advanced understanding of QA concepts, terminology and testing life cycles.
Experience in Tools like Jira, Confluence, TestRail preferred. Exposure to Kubernetes/Docker is a plus.
Knowledge of working with existing test automation frameworks and CI/CD workflow tools;
Working knowledge of AWS/Google/Azure clouds preferred
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; commitment to delivering great software and releasing it efficiently and with increasing quality. Measure and report quality release over release;
Team player, excellent communication skills, with strong multi-tasking ability
Willingness to accept a hands-on position and will require building, running system test scenarios and automating the same.
What Can Give You a Head Start
Hands on automation experience (
golang
preferred)
Knowledge of SAN/NAS/Object storage products
Familiarity and hands-on experience with storage features files snapshots, Backups and datapath testing
Highly skilled in building out and working with Virtualized environments (ESXi, KVM, Hyper-V, Dockers)
Ability to deploy and use applications like Elastic search stack, database applications, kafka etc to simulate IO test workloads
