Description

The Engineering Lead oversees a small team that handles logistics, fabrication, installation, operation, application, maintenance, and repair of mechanical and electro-mechanical machines, equipment, tools, motors and systems The Engineering Lead works on problems of diverse scope and complexity ranging from moderate to substantial.

Responsibilities

This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology in Humana's Mail Order Pharmacy distribution facility. The Engineering Lead ensures maintenance and continuous improvement of quality and industry standards, evaluates mechanical products to determine cost effectiveness and efficiency, oversees and implements prescription drug distribution equipment and recommends design modifications to eliminate malfunctions, reduce cost-to-fill, increase throughput and improve quality, performs and leads tests of related software and equipment to ensure proper operation and freedom from defects, and devises improvements to current procedures and develops models of possible future configurations. Advises executives to develop functional strategies (often segment specific) on matters of significance.

Scope of Role and Responsibilities:

Key Individual that understands complete manufacturing process from material flow to detailed equipment design.

Manages a small multi-disciplined team of engineers that supports production operations, performs continuous improvement activities, and coordinates efforts for future production designs.

Develop and Design new and innovated equipment components for utilization in production environments. This includes the design, layout, testing, and evaluation of mechanical and electro-mechanical devices or systems to be used in production environments.

Plans, directs and coordinates design and installation of new manufacturing processes in industrial plants.

Maintains broad knowledge of current product design, manufacture and assembly techniques used in the industry.

Able to identify new and innovative ways to implement technology appropriately into manufacturing processes.

Understand key areas to help develop and implement product quality standards in production lines and process improvements during the design and installation phases.

Develops, evaluates and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, quality control, and corporate standards

Analyzes current designs and plans for work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, and designs equipment layouts to effectively design the appropriate technology for use in a production environment

Confers with vendors to determine process specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts and evaluates products according to specifying actions and quality standards.

Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing production processes.

Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements, process improvements and potential capacity.

Develop budgets for product manufacturing and upgrading processes. Key Competencies:

Must interface successfully with engineers & product owners and across functional departments

Position Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent

8 years of technical experience in a related field

Proficient in either AutoCAD or Solidworks

Working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.

Strong organizational skills.

Associates working in the state of Arizona must comply with the Tobacco Free Hiring Policy (see details below under Additional Information) and upon offer will be subjected to nicotine testing as part of a 10-panel drug test

Additional Information:

Remote Work: Will be reporting onsite a few days out of the week to designated office in AZ, OH or FL.

For this job, associates are required to be fully COVID vaccinated, including booster or undergo weekly COVID testing and wear a face covering while at work. The weekly testing will need to be done through an approved Humana vendor, and unvaccinated associates should follow all social distancing and masking protocols if they are required to come into a Humana facility or work outside of their home.
