As a member of the Comcast Cloud Technologies SRE team, your primary responsibility is to ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of the organization's cloud-based infrastructure and applications.

Job Description

In this role, you will:

Set up, configure, and maintain virtual machines, containers, load balancers, and other components that make up a cloud-based infrastructure.

Set up monitoring tools and dashboards that help detect and diagnose performance issues, failures, and other problems. You should know how to configure alerts to notify the team when certain thresholds are breached.

Automate repetitive tasks and processes, such as deploying and scaling applications, managing backups, or updating configurations.

You should be able to communicate effectively with other team members, stakeholders, and customers. You should be able to collaborate with developers, testers, product managers, and other groups to understand their needs and requirements and to provide support and guidance.

Perform deep dives into both systemic and latent reliability issues

Drive standardization efforts across multiple disciplines and services in conjunction with embedded SREs throughout the organization

Enforce best practices for metrics gathering, monitoring, and alarming

Provide basic data administration and optimization, and monitoring

Provide basic network administration and troubleshooting

Assist in the technology selection for core computing and software infrastructure

What you can expect:

You will be asked to participate in on-call rotations and be prepared to respond to incidents that affect the availability or performance of the systems. You should know how to diagnose and resolve issues, escalate problems to other team members if necessary, and document the incident for future reference.

As an SRE team member, you will work closely with other engineers in the team and be expected to learn quickly and take on new responsibilities over time.

Education

Bachelor's Degree

While possessing the stated degree is preferred, Comcast also may consider applicants who hold some combination of coursework and experience, or who have extensive related professional experience.
