SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for coordinating and managing the day-to-day operational and tactical aspects of multiple large scale capital projects. This position will function as the project manager on assigned projects or manage multiple projects or Project Managers. This position will be responsible for project development, design, application, management and implementation of capital projects. Projects will cover a diverse range in scope to support the company's aggressive Innovation and Growth Strategy. This position will work with Marketing, R&D, Food Safety, Environmental, and Manufacturing team members to help bring to market new products or deliver successful manufacturing systems. The position is required to make decisions concerning plant layouts, equipment selections, project schedules and cost requirements. This position will also be responsible for managing outside engineering and construction management resources. It is the responsibility of this position to establish, maintain, and coordinate policies, standards, specifications, and practices that support and enhance the company's objectives. This position must interact with a broad section of the industry not only at the plant level but including government, vendor, and industry representatives. This position will also perform other tasks, as deemed appropriate, to deliver food manufacturing related solutions. This position must ensure all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with the organization's established policies and objectives. This position must maintain a working knowledge of USDA guidelines and OSHA standards and be able to apply them to plant layouts and process designs. This position is also responsible for personnel management to include hiring, developing and promoting personnel; and maintaining knowledge of and familiarizing all Team members with Tyson's personnel, training, purchasing and safety programs and procedures; and for any other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: B.S. in Engineering or equivalent experience and/or registration (by examination) as a Professional Engineer.
Experience: Minimum of 8 years’ applicable engineering experience with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in the food processing industry.
Computer Skills: Standard computer skills. Competent in Excel, Word, Power Point and SAP. Knowledge of CAD software is highly desirable.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position is responsible for supervising a small group of personnel (professional or support staff) in a single department or work unit and will be responsible for leading cross functional teams.
Special Skills: Capable of working on multi-faceted projects of any magnitude while requiring little or no supervision; ability to complete complex projects on time and on budget; strong knowledge of civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, and electrical discipline concepts, practices, and procedures as they relate to food processing facility design and operation; strong organizational skills.
