Job Summary

Responsible for participating as people leader and technical thought driver to project teams, troubleshooting operational issues, providing technical solutions to operational problems, contributing to new products implementation, implementing existing products and services, and providing the overall upkeep and maintenance of designated areas of engineering. Interfaces with vendors, Engineering, and peer operations organizations. Acts in compliance with industry and Company technical requirements, standards, policies, and procedures. Provides technical leadership and career guidance to junior Engineers and project teams. Integrates knowledge of business and functional priorities. Acts as a key contributor in a complex and crucial project environment. May direct workflow and act as a technical lead. May lead teams or projects and shares expertise.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities

Proven ability to lead a team of engineers supporting established and emerging RDBMS, noSQL and distributed db technologies.

Drives issues through closure engaging all appropriate resources.

Leads technical bridges and provides troubleshooting direction.

Provides guidance to direct reports and internal application customers and recommends solutions to complex technical issues.

Acts as an advocate for Engineering Operations procedures, policies,and processes.

Ensures project deliverables are fully integrated into the operationsenvironment including lifecycle management using build automation with high availability, redundancy, performance, scalability and security in mind.

Able to deliver on cloud-native database as a service solutions

Provides input to engineering and vendors on defects and requiredenhancements.

Attains all relevant industry standard technicalcertifications.

Reports performance related to operations and project status to management.

Identifies and recommends areas requiring change or modification.

Performs complex and routine maintenance tests for designated areas of engineering.

Identifies and isolate issues.

Ensures that allmaintenance is properly validated to minimize subscriber impact to (ideally) zero.

Serves as team lead on multiple projects, often spanning differentengineering disciplines within the organization.

Leads the integration of proactive engineering projects into operations including instrumentation, automation, standardization, and methods/procedures.

Applies advanced engineering methodologies in one or more engineering areas.

Must have ability to coach direct reports both technically and for personal career progression.

Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in mattersof significance.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree (Engineering or Computer Science)or equivalent experience

7-10 years of engineering experience

Expert knowledge and application of project management skills, process design and redesign skills.

Proven ability to manage teams through agile / scrums

Working knowledge of PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Couchbase, Cassandra, YugabyteDB and Kubernetes.
