Who does the Mercury engineer work with?
Mercury software engineers collaborate with engineers from many subject areas: software engineers within Mercury and across Comcast, including AI/ML teams. A Mercury engineer also engages with quality assurance engineers, technical operators, architects, and product owners daily. We're a small team, delivering software solutions pioneering accessible messaging products.
Primary Technologies for This Role:
The Level 3 Engineer will initially be engaged in Full Stack development with a stong backend proficiency. Focusing on .Net development with mastery knowledge of C# programming is crucial to success. This individual will need to be an independent coder with a background leading and initiating projects.
Team Technologies:
Front end: Angular, React, SASS, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, CSS3; Web layout models such as Flexbox.
Backend: Microsoft .NET technology stack tools and IDEs (C# programming language preferred).
Skills & Requirements
BS in Computer Science and 4 years equivalent experience. directly related experience may be considered in-lieu of degree(s)
Fluency in web application development using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to solve UI problems.
Expertise with semantic markup, responsive design, and CSS 3 web layout models such as Flexbox.
Competence in SASS, Angular and React development, and Storybook.
At least 4 years' software development experience with a recent focus on cloud computing (preferably Azure)
Comfortable working in a fast-paced agile environment
Good communicator; able to analyze and clearly articulate complex issues and technologies understandably and engagingly
A strong bias for automation
Experience mentoring junior engineers
Core Responsibilities
Collaborates with project partners to identify product and technical requirements. Conducts analysis to determine integration needs.
Designs new software and web applications, supports applications under development and customizes current applications. Assists with the software update process for existing applications and roll-outs of software releases.
Participates in training representatives and operations staff on internally developed software applications.
Researches, writes and edits documentation: including software designs, evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals and formal recommendations and reports.
Monitors and evaluates competitive applications and products. Reviews literature, patents and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects.
Provides technical leadership throughout the design process and guidance with regards to practices, procedures and techniques. Serves as a guide and mentor for junior-level Software Development Engineers.
Works with Quality Assurance team to determine if applications fit specification and technical requirements.
