Position Purpose

What’s the role –

The Static Equipment Engineer is a key member of the Pressure Equipment Integrity (PEI) Team in Shell Gulf of Mexico (GoM) Deepwater. The PEI Team is responsible for managing the Pressure Equipment Integrity Management (PEIM) program and reports to the Hub Capability Manager in the Maintenance, Turnaround, Construction, and Engineering Organization. The Static Equipment Engineer is expected to have skills and experience in the Static Mechanical Engineering discipline.

The Static Equipment Engineer (or PEI Engineer) is expected to manage major special emphasis programs and deliver overall continuous improvement goals. They are also expected to develop subject matter expertise in several key areas of the mechanical engineering discipline. The Static Equipment Engineer is expected to coach and mentor frontline asset engineers and inspectors in their area of expertise. The Static Equipment Engineer will also work closely with the Inspection Leads to support asset integrity inspection and technical assurance needs. They are responsible to perform fitness-for-service assessments for assigned assets, provide static-mechanical support for items such as valve selection, and support troubleshooting and other pressure equipment issues.

The Static Equipment Engineer is expected to:

Implement PEIM integrity assurance strategies, programs, and processes

Support risk-based inspection (RBI) and reliability centered maintenance (RCM) analyses for static mechanical equipment

Provide technical support for planned or unplanned maintenance, shutdown or turnaround events, during and after normal business hours, as the business needs arise

Utilize causal reasoning to assess equipment failures to static mechanical equipment

Provide technical assurance for static mechanical issues on MOCs and small plant changes

Provide technical assurance of equipment repair, fabrication, and replacement work

Provide technical support for short-term threat management and active management of medium and long-term threats and opportunities

Support scope development and risk assessments for turnaround work

Serve as contract holder for assigned contracts

Perform internal assurance activities on assigned offshore assets

Actively identify opportunities for process improvement and value enhancement

Skills & Requirements

What we need from you –

Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis.

Requires a bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

7 years of industry experience; Deepwater experience is a plus

Excellent communication, stakeholder, and change management skills
