Best Buy’s Digital & Technology team is seeking a Software Engineer II - Chat to join our Chat Product team. Our Chat team is responsible for building highly scalable back-end systems for experiences on the bestbuy.com website. We do a variety of work -- J2EE, Node.js as a server, and Single Page React Native and React-JS applications. If you are interested in any or all of these -- we would like to hear from you!

Key position responsibilities:

Develop J2EE server applications using Spring and commonly used J2EE frameworks, databases, and messaging systems

Providing quality and thoughtful feedback on peer code reviews

Use modern technology to build highly scalable, resilient, tunable, and extensible applications

Collaborate with team members across various disciplines to solve problems at the scale of one of the top 10 e-commerce websites

Minimum Qualifications:

1 year of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree, associate degree or Coding Bootcamp/Code School OR equivalent relevant professional experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics

2 or more years experience in software development, preferably using Java

6 months or more of experience with Spring

6 months or more of experience in consuming and producing REST endpoints

6 months or more of experience in an agile and continuous delivery environment

Solid understanding of REST principles

Solid understanding of thread safety, transactions, logging, and techniques to make systems scalable, resilient, tunable, and extensible

Experience with SQL, NoSQL, Kafka
