SUMMARY
Bering Straits Information Technology (BSIT), LLC a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation, is looking for a Senior Cisco Network Engineer to support Headquarters (HQ) United States Pacific Command (USPACOM) located at Camp H. M. Smith, Hawaii. USPACOM is one of six geographic Unified Combatant Commands. The USPACOM Area of Responsibility (AOR) encompasses about half the earth's surface, stretching from the waters off the west coast of the U.S. to the western border of India, and from Antarctica to the North Pole. USPACOM J6 (Command, Control, Communications & Cyber (C4) Directorate) provides the communications and IT services to critical for the PACOM Commander to Command and Control (C2) forces across the theater. This must not fail mission depends on highly secure & reliable voice, data, and video communications. USPACOM operates the Common Computing Environment (CCE) surrounded by a network defense infrastructure. We are looking for an experienced
Senior Cisco Network Engineer
who will provide operational knowledge and support of Department of Defense (DoD) networking architecture to assist in designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting of USPACOM Command and Control Support System (C2S2) networks. The Senior Cisco Network Engineer shall operate as the networking Subject Matter Expert (SME) and will be expected to plan, implement, install, configure, operate, and optimize an extensive range of network technologies and monitoring tools across multiple enclaves. Additionally, the contractor shall be extensively knowledgeable in the practice and execution of DISA Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) validations and DISA’s STIG Viewer checklist.
Assume the project lead position, providing sound advice to government lead concerning network improvements and upgrades. Expertly plan, design, and execute projects with very little government oversight while providing crucial documentation to assist in maintaining continuity. Develop, modify, or using an established template, configure and deploy network routers, switches, firewalls, Video Teleconferencing (VTC)-specialized equipment, and all related network devices on operational networks, with no downtime, unless previously scheduled. Use /modify the backup configuration from backup server as a template. Coordinate all planning for required Authorized Scheduled Interruptions (ASI). Execute the DISA Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) validations and account for vulnerabilities via DISA’s STIG Viewer checklist; providing validation to appropriate government personnel. Work in conjunction with designated government personnel to configure/re-configure new and existing applications to capture necessary government data. LAN/WAN Maintenance, Monitoring, and Troubleshooting: Provide maintenance, monitoring, and troubleshooting of network hardware, printers, servers, and software products and services within the Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) networks, to include, telephony, and Video Teleconference (VTC) environments. Maintain network device and personnel security within the network environment, managing identity and access needs with the use of the current PACOM Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting applications.
QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION
Required (Minimum) Qualifications
Require(s) a Top Secret security clearance and a IT-I (privileged level systems access) will, immediately upon hire, require Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access eligibility
IAW DoD 8570.01-M, must meet IAT II minimum qualifications
5-8 years of directly related experience in network analysis and administration
Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in network analysis and design
Comprehensive knowledge of routers, switches, patch panels, concentrators, associated terminals, and related network hardware and software
Comprehensive knowledge of desktop operating systems and applications
May require professional certification in one or more specific technologies, depending on job assignment
Must be flexible and adaptable to changing environments and short notice changes
Work environment will be supporting senior military personnel, so candidate must be able to work in a stressful environment
Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, are required for individuals supporting tasks in this PWS, as there will be considerable interaction with customers, vendors, Headquarters Program Director staff, and other high-level stakeholders in support of these requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
B.S. or other technical degree or equivalent work experience required
Security Certification is required. (Must be able to obtain certification)
Preferred
CCNA or equivalent preferred
Bachelor’s degree or higher from accredited college or university in a field directly related to the duties of this position
Proven working experience as a Senior Cisco Network Engineer
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office

Job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse and multi-line telephone system. The work described herein is primarily a modern office setting. Occasional travel may be required.

Applicant must sign a NON-EXCLUSIVE letter of commitment. The letter of commitment shows serious intent to perform this job function. Letter of commitment does not contractually obligate applicant to fill position. As a condition of employment, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results to obtain access to military base. Must have reliable transportation to/from work a necessity and must be able to obtain access to military installations.
