The Shell HODer team functions as an integral part of the global HODer technical, commercial, and manufacturing community. Primary HODer product areas include Higher Olefins, Derivatives and Oil Field Chemicals. The global technical team provides support to these areas of the business with technology resources predominately located in Houston.
Provide R&D technical support for the Higher Olefins and Derivatives (HODer) programs, including ongoing research in support of the HODER manufacturing processes SHOP – AO & ID, SHF & ethoxylation:
Develop significant depth and breadth of knowledge regarding the HODER process technologies and competitors processes; while developing familiarity with associated product application technology
Develop significant depth and breadth of the SHOP and SHF technologies knowledge regarding the process conditions and chemical reaction kinetics at the molecular level
Provide technical advice regarding the properties, processes and sustainability to manufacturing, external toll manufacturers, academic, and internal Shell partners
Assess manufacturing locations needs and work closely with site staff to develop and support new business opportunities.
Represent Shell in industry associations, technical organizations, and/or academic collaborations
Provide technical support for scaling up the manufacture of products for uses in HODer businesses
Develop new intellectual property and write requests for patent action
Write technical reports and procedures
Supervise and coach laboratory technical professionals & the experimentalist team
Demonstrate HSE leadership, and ensure compliance with all Group, Regulatory, Quality and other appropriate standards
Supervise contracts/research with external third parties

Requirements:
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer both now and in the future.
Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry
3 years' experience or post-doctoral internship
Experience with mechanistic and/or kinetic modelling beneficial
Hands-on chemical synthesis in the lab and/or characterization of new materials is beneficial
Skilled experimentalist with demonstrated capability of design, construction and execution of bench and larger experimental programs.
Skilled at stakeholder management with a demonstrated ability to make decisions despite many uncertainties
Experience or familiarity with product scale-up issues and quality assurance, prior chemical development experience is beneficial
Demonstrate leadership qualities in completing tasks on time and leading cross-functional teams
Experience with extending or developing novel experimental techniques beneficial
Skilled at intellectual property and knowledge management
Mastery of written and spoken English; proficiency in additional languages beneficial
Prior role in projects and technology is beneficial.
Experience working in global cross-functional teams (i.e. good social and communication skills)
