Role Summary:

The Store Fixture Designer is a key role in the fixture/display design discipline within the store experience function. The Fixture Designer’s responsibilities include conceptual design of key environmental fixtures and experiences based on company needs, strategies, objectives, and budgets. This includes attending project kickoff meetings and an understanding of design briefs in order to better comprehend design driven strategies. Utilizing that information along with industry standard software including Adobe Creative Suite, Sketchup, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office, and a highly creative skillset to develop strong fixture designs. This role directly impacts the customer experience by designing and developing the fixtures, experiences, and tools used by either the employee and/or our customers in our Best Buy Enterprise Stores. Candidate must possess the ability to clearly and effectively articulate concepts to both internal and external partners, and influence design changes as needed based on retail design knowledge and experience.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Fixture/display design concepting Ability to quickly create strong design concepts based on design brief/criteria utilizing an advanced knowledge of design software standard within the industry (Adobe Creative Suite, Sketchup, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office). Must be able to navigate through various design processes

Basic understanding of casework, metal fabrication, available materials selection, and/or interior design fundamentals and stay up-to date on retail trends

Utilize a library of catalog parts and possess research capabilities in order to vet out the most cost-effective solution pertaining to the design and business needs

2. Cross Functional Partnership Attend and represent the store design team in several business meetings with cross functional teams and external vendors. The fixture designer will be required to look at the overall store holistically and understand the nuances of the design direction set forth by the design criteria and business objective

Ability to work with various industry vendors to seek out information on materials, costs, industry design trends, and design technology integration

3. Event coordination Attend prototype reviews of designs at corporate facilities

Attend deployment events in the field as necessary

Experience:

1 years of experience working in Microsoft business suite

1 years of experience working in Adobe Creative Suite

1 years of experience 3D modeling software knowledge

Preferred Experience/Skills:

Industrial/product design industry experience

Retail experience

Experience working in Solidworks, Vray, Sketchup software

Bachelor’s degree in industrial/product design or similar from an accredited school
