Description: The Program Engineer oversees and manages programs/projects throughout their lifecycle for success in the areas of Technical, Schedule, and Budget. Projects may include customer orders and internal R&D or CapEx projects.
Works with the Program Management Organization (PMO) and Sales to prepare proposals including costings and responses to technical requirements. Works with the technical staff and operations to plan the technical approach; reviews requirements and specifications for compliance with engineering principles and company capabilities. Supports sales engineers when requested to clarify proposals to customers.
Plans and develops schedules as well as project budgets; monitors the product/program/project from initiation through delivery, interfacing with customers (internal/external) on technical matters, schedules or any program issue. Evaluates and approves design changes, specification and drawing releases. Coordinates activities concerned with technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design and test problems. Provides regular status updates to upper management.
Represents the organization as the prime customer contact on contracts and projects. Interacts with senior external personnel on significant technical and schedule matters often requiring coordination between organizations.
Organizes interdepartmental activities to ensure completion on schedule, per the technical requirements, and within budget constraints.
May require travel to customer’s facilities to make presentations or discuss customer specifications.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 2 years of professional experience; or a related Master's degree. Considered experienced but still learning in the role.
Desired Skills:
Technical Background, especially Physics or Engineering
Experience with Thin Film Coating Manufacturing
Program Management Institute Certification
