The Director of Portfolio & Delivery Enablement will be responsible for leading the end-to-end planning, cut-over planning and hyper-care support planning of the Oracle EBS upgrade. This role will enable Finance, Global Supply Management, and critical Business processes. The role requires expertise in working with a team of talented engineers, architects, and third-party vendors to deliver world class capabilities for American Express.
Drives software delivery and support through a team of direct reports that typically include Technology Project Managers, Release Train Engineers, Scrum Masters, and project managers, who may be direct reports, matrixed into/from other leaders, or through setting operational standards and governance within the scope of the role.
Lead PDE teams directly supporting large scale engineering teams and transformation.
Leads with passion, influence and sensitive to geographic and cultural differences across AET.
Attract, retain, and grow top engineering talent across the organization, providing guidance, career development and mentorship to team members
Cultivate and drive innovation and experimentation across AET, delivering software solutions that meet or exceed customer and partner expectations, often helping craft business requirements in a manner that optimally uses technology teams.
Cultivate an environment of continuous improvement, leading changes that drive efficiencies into existing engineering and delivery processes.
Own accountability for all quality aspects and metrics of product portfolio, including effectiveness of development teams, working in conjunction with Agile COE and other governance stakeholders.
Lead transformation initiatives such as Agile, Scrum, DevOps, Feature Teams, among others.
Challenge the status quo and solve problems creatively; using your toolbox of product management and consulting techniques such as Design Thinking, use case development, journey mapping, VOC, maturity models, data synthesis, etc.
Lead through influence, often without direct authority, persuading with compelling data, facts, and conclusions to align goals with senior leaders and their teams.
Collaborate effectively and build key relationships with Product, Engineering, and Portfolio teams to identify and manage dependencies across organizations.
Monitor industry trends to identify and adopt emerging product development methodologies.
Help build an awesome culture across Tech Strategy & Transformation through team building and colleague engagement activities.
Directly manage a team of colleagues in a matrixed organization.
6 years of Technical Project Management experience.
Understanding of all aspects of software design with a demonstrated track record of increasing responsibility within technology-oriented roles.
Coding experience and ability to review code with team members and help drive solutions is preferred.
Experience managing Agile, Scrum, or other rapid application development teams to deliver technology solutions that meet customer expectations for timeliness and quality.
Certification in at least one Agile or Project Management discipline preferred, not limited to Scrum Master, Product Owner, SaFE, LeSS, PMI-ACP, PMP, etc.
Experience managing risk, project budgets, reporting, definition of key KPIs and other metrics.
Experience with Agile project management tools such as Jira, Rally, TFS, etc.
Excellent oral and written communication skills; Ability to effectively communicate across third parties and technical and business product managers. Excellent PowerPoint and Excel skills.

Experience in clarifying objectives, dealing with ambiguity/under-defined problems, advocating for simplification, and influencing teams.
Ability to enable business capabilities through innovation.
Demonstrated willingness to learn new technologies and takes pride in how fast they develop working software.
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other Technical discipline, or equivalent work experience, is preferred.
