SUMMARY

Bering Straits Information Technology, LLC, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking a qualified Network Engineer II - HDVS in Washington, DC. This position will be responsible for ensuring the stable operation and efficient performance of data networks; monitoring and managing all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches and encryptors; analyzing network performance across the organization’s LANs and WANs; and identifying and developing remedies for network performance bottlenecks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide network performance statistics and reports.

Install and configure all network hardware and equipment, including routers, switches and encryptors.

Inspect, maintain and where necessary replace network cabling and other network-related equipment.

Administer hardware and software upgrades for network equipment.

Perform network design and capacity planning.

Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for network resource administration, appropriate use and disaster recovery.

Perform network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.

Administer and maintain user accounts, permissions and access rights.

Recommend, schedule and perform network improvements, upgrades and repairs.

Interact with vendors, outsourcers and contractors to secure network products and services.

QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

Required (Minimum) Qualifications

Experience with Juniper network solutions required

Must be able to obtain and maintain Top Secret level security clearance.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

Solid working knowledge of network security measures

Experience with network management and analysis tools such as Solar Winds.

Preferred

Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or related field.

Juniper or Cisco Network Certifications

Must successfully complete a pre-employment physical agility test (PAT) and annually thereafter as prescribed by the government.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 

Job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse and multi-line telephone system. The work described herein is primarily a modern office setting. Occasional travel may be required. During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No supervisory responsibilities are required

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS

As a condition of employment, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results to obtain access to military base. Must have reliable transportation to/from work a necessity and must be able to obtain access to military installations.
