The Clinical Software Engineer codes software applications based on business requirements. The Clinical Software Engineer work assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and independent determination of the appropriate courses of action.
Responsibilities
Join the Clinical IT development organization, a part of Technology Solutions, as we pioneer and refine our Carehub clinical platform in alignment with Humana's Healthcare Services segment to benefit clinicians and the members they serve. Partner with Clinical Technology & Capabilities, solutions architects, and other key stakeholders to translate business needs into high performing software that are forward-thinking, scalable, robust, and valuable. Exploit opportunities to define standards, streamline development processes, and model quality software development behaviors in conjunction with other members of the technology leadership team. Play a key role in the evolution of our technical strategy & road-map, team dynamics, and delivery planning.
The Software Engineer will serve as the subject matter expert, lead the application component design and development and oversee testing, debugging and problem resolution. They will interact with all internal technology infrastructure, development and business support, understand and provide the best recommendations for standards, best practices, and initiatives for Clinical HPE. They will coordinate with offshore and onshore resources to get work completed and work effectively with both business operations and technical personnel. They will perform various engineering tests to verify and validate product designs, improve system quality by identifying issues and common patterns, and develop standard operating procedures. They will code the solution, and improve the quality assurance practices for software. The role is embedded in a Scrum or Kanban team. They will research incidents and make necessary adjustments and/or recommendations to resolve complex software related issues, make decisions on moderately complex issues regarding technical approach for project components and ensure smooth transition of software application knowledge between Dev and PSM.
Work in agile product development framework
Develop solutions based on business requirements and approved architecture
Evaluate and integrate tools and frameworks required to provide requested capabilities
Diagnose system performance issues and advise any necessary infrastructure changes
Ensure all communications regarding escalations are planned and orderly, timely and accurate;
Mentor offshore and onshore resources on technical tasks;
Improve system by studying current practices, recommend controls by identifying problems, writing improved procedures (i.e. code best practice, technology standards, infrastructure hardware growth plans, etc.);
Work with Product Owners and Architects to ensure understanding of deliverables;
Work with managers, architects, business users, and team members to evaluate and provide team estimates for project and work requests;
Advance the adoption of new techniques, tools, and processes to streamline delivery capabilities;
Audit and provide feedback to team members regarding standards adherence, design principles, and expected patterns of work
Must have orientation and organization skills. Excellent follow -up skills, and sense of urgency with the ability to respond under pressure
Must be self-supporting and able to coordinate with offshore and onshore resources to get work completed and work effectively with both business operations and technical personnel.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field
5 years of experience in application programming development
Experience with Microsoft SQL 2012/2016.
Experience with C#.NET
Experience with performance testing, profiling and tuning
Knowledge of the DevOps culture and principles
Good oral and written communication skills
Ability to work well in a team development setting
Ability to perform analysis and design, requirements gathering, documentation, programming, testing, system installation and/or conversion.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with layered Architecture across multiple domains
Experience with technology solutions assessments and/or strategy planning oversight
Experience with Azure DevOps, git repositories and release pipelines
Experience with Windows Services, Windows Client/Server
Experience with High Availability/ High Volume Services, High Volume SSIS Jobs, $U scheduling
Cloud certification
Healthcare or managed care experience
Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences
Knowledge of Humana Clinical Apps/Clinical business
