What We’re Looking For:
We’re seeking a Senior Director, Engineering to join the edX content theme. This is a team of approximately 30 engineers (5 people managers) focused on work that will grow our software and software products to become more flexible to be used with learning management systems.
We need a technical leader that can define an engineering vision for this and help navigate the Content teams toward the destination.
This role and team will be hugely impactful on the business, unlocking many more opportunities for our learners and partners.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:

You’ll be responsible for maintaining and evolving the architecture and technology that supports content catalog for the broader edX marketplace, content onboarding for open courses and content delivery for open courses, including contributions to open edX open-source codebase.
Delivering software capabilities needed for the business line
- Continuously improving the operations of the team
- Contributing to advancing the culture of Open Courses & Marketplace business line
- Lead the team and pressure test if thinking is sound
- Lead engineering vision for Content and bring it to life
Things That Should Be In Your Background:
- Engineering background
- Needs to have built software at some point in career for credibility and empathy
- Will be management (no coding expected day to day).
- Experience leading a software engineering team
- Experience coaching, training and mentoring people managers and individual contributors
