Description

The Enterprise Cloud Operations Engineer position will oversee Cloud operations to ensure the environments health, stability, manage the daily cloud based systems utilizing AWS, Azure, and Google cloud platforms to ensure the availability, performance, scalability and security of cloud based systems. The Engineer is an expert in 24/7 operations with high performing and scaling systems that meet a high degree of uptime. An expert in all facets of Cloud hosting operations with the ability to effectively communicate with customers, and internal stake holders.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

Oversee, participate in and manage production deployments within the various Cloud environments.

Participate in the Design, implementation and Operation of application and infrastructure monitoring solutions

Provides cloud governance, processes and technical advisory support to business units and projects by working cross-functionally and provide recommendations that support the business needs.

Participant as required (Level 2/3 escalation point) for Incident Management.

Participate and develop client relationships within Operations, Business partners, Managed Service Providers and Cloud services.

Work with cross-functional teams to support the engineering and implementation of new cloud applications or solutions, and define the related risks.

Responsible for adherence to corporate standards regarding applicable corporate and divisional Policies, including code of conduct, safety, GxP compliance, and data security.

Measure

Responsible for setting reporting standards, reporting and reviewing the cloud reports.

Review

Monitoring, Alerting and response to alerts, making and settings standards and policies.

Review and approve strategic migration plans to move on premise applications to various cloud vendors.

Improve

Understand Cost controls and the various cost optimization techniques.

Understand reliability and performance aspects and make recommendations

Capacity Management within the Abbvie cloud environments.

Mentor the Operations organization and less experienced technical staff.

Service billing management. Utilize knowledge to detail cost drivers in cloud systems delivery and operations and the consequences of the technical decisions made by you and/or others.

Document

Strong documentation skills for updating and maintaining a Knowledge Base and knowledge articles. Establish required documentation, standards and policies.

Change Management

Working knowledge and hands on experience with Service Now and ITIL change management.

Participate in onboarding systems and services within the cloud environments.

Secure

Monitor and Manage security across infrastructure and applications that reside in the cloud.

Account access oversight, governance and administration.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Technology related field with a minimum of 3 years work experience OR 5 -8 years of related work experience

Minimum 3 years of working Cloud experience.

Established experience in Cloud Service development, compute engineering and automation.

Interacts well with diverse groups within function and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external entities.

Ability to influence others in the technology areas.

Has hands on scripting experience using one of the following: Terraform, Cloud Formation, PowerShell, Azure CLI, Python, JSON, Perl or Bash.

AKS/container experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Understands the Well Architected Framework, and has hands-on experience and implementation of Cloud solutions.

Experience with Continuous Integration and Deployment Pipelines , i.e. Azure ADO, Jenkins, Git, Git Hub.

Technical background in healthcare or companies is preferred.

Strong background in Operations and/or Infrastructure Engineering.

Strong understanding of Azure and AWS services (IaaS, SaaS, PaaS,).

Strong understanding of services utilized by cloud vendors (Azure, AWS & Google).

Familiarity with Azure Monitor, Cloud Watch, Advisor, Cloud Trail, Guard Duty, Cost Explorer, Splunk, TurboNomics, Dynatrace and other cloud management tools.

Strong background in Linux/Unix and/or Windows administration.

Azure or AWS Certified Solutions Architect.

Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA)

RHEL Certification desired. Advanced knowledge preferred in Linux and System Administration tasks including OS installation, configuration, troubleshooting and management. Linux User Management, Log Analysis, resource utilization and fine tuning. Good knowledge of scripting languages (Python, Ruby, etc.) Experience working with configuration management tools (Ansible).

Strong understanding of network and firewall principles and cloud virtualization environments such as AWS.

Familiar with Service Now.

Container monitoring using Dynatrace or Azure Monitor.

Understands code as a service.

Background in regulated companies a plus (pharmaceutical, healthcare, financial institutions or similar).

Advanced Knowledge of Cloud and Open Source Technologies such as: Service Discovery, Networking, Load Balancing, Containers, Deployment and Scaling, Fault Tolerance and throttling, failure domains and zones, etc.
