The Nuclear Manufacturing Technologies Team is a dynamic organization that maximizes up-times, efficiencies, utilizations, inventories, and overall level of quality by leading and enabling the Nuclear Manufacturing modernization through innovation and technology while providing quality solutions and support to existing manufacturing technologies.
The Nuclear Manufacturing Technologies Mechanical Engineer is responsible for assisting in providing innovative and cost-effective solutions requiring the development or sustaining of new or improved techniques, procedures, or products. The Mechanical Engineer also assist in planning, conducting, and evaluating approaches to meeting the project objectives in a timely fashion.
In addition, the Nuclear Manufacturing Technologies Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the production, testing, commissioning, and sustaining of projects as they relate to manufacturing production equipment and/or fixturing operating within Nuclear Manufacturing.
The Nuclear Manufacturing Technologies Mechanical Engineer applies engineering knowledge and technical expertise to prevent or reduce the likelihood of failure of Nuclear Manufacturing production related equipment and/or fixturing by using various methodologies and tools to work closely with those who design, develop, test, manufacture, deliver, and support this equipment and/or fixturing.
Roles and responsibilities:
Assist in identifying and organizing requirements. Apply relevant usability procedures and principles.
Analyze, design, develop, and maintain products.
Build prototypes, products, and systems suitable for testing. Set up and run lab simulations. Design and implement tests, document results, and develop customer presentations. Provide timely corrective actions on defects.
Produce analyses and mathematical models and draw design conclusions based on those.
Conduct or participate in technical reviews of requirements, specifications, designs, code, and other artifacts. Contribute to design standards and support design re-use.
Create and maintain product documentation. Provide user training as required.
Assign, direct and review work of technicians. With seniority, mentor junior engineers.
Continually evaluate engineering approaches and risks.
Keep abreast of novel technical concepts and markets. Adopt new practices readily to develop innovative and low-cost products.
Maintain familiarity with company technology, organization, and business.
Comply with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements as defined in the risk control matrix.
Develop a continuous improvement culture, initiatives and improvement plans to improve equipment utilization, reliability and CoSD.
Drive continuous improvement efforts to improve asset down-time through reduction of assets waiting for maintenance, down for parts or repair, down for failure, and work-in-process.
Identify new opportunities and develop business cases for projects pertaining to rework and reuse of parts, service level kits and equipment design improvements.
Monitor adherence of projects to improve quality, reliability and CoSD.
Participate in failure Investigations. Coordinate root cause analysis of failed items.
Participate in periodic technical audits and CAT compliance assessments. Follow up on maintenance related remedial action plan closures.
Compile and communicate lessons learned and ensure prevention of failures by archiving captured knowledge for re-use.
Manage manufacturing engineering tasks including design and engineering, follow-up with Manufacturing, commissioning, and manual documentation updates.
Update associated business systems, GeMS and Onecat, with changes in product revisions and new products as they are engineered and manufactured.
Track and document process engineering modifications, changes, and costs.
Ensure implementation of maintenance program.
Qualifications and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Proficient with 3D mechanical design software.
Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Proficient with MS Project.
