The eDFM Engineer is responsible for managing complex electro-mechanical assemblies throughout Schlumberger’s development process. This includes responsibility for defining component mounting, selection of adhesives, potting and coatings, mechanical design and qualification of electrical systems for harsh shock, vibration, and thermal environments. The eDFM Engineer is also responsible for ensuring a manufacturable design consistent with contract manufacturer (CM) equipment and processes. This includes responsibility for manufacturing process fixtures, instructions and profiles to optimize production yield and ultimately the reliability of the electrical system. Oversight of electronic design readiness. The eDFM Engineer takes an active role in solving complex manufacturing problems and troubleshooting quality and production yield related issues within manufacturing.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Participate in high level design activities and physical implementation of the functional design
Collaborate with the Design Engineer, eCAD, mCAD, Test Engineer and DFM, to ensure robust electro-mechanical design.
Optimize the vibration & thermal compliance of the electrical system design as well compatibility of components with the assembly processes.
Create electrical assembly manufacturing process instructions
Responsible for DFA (Design for Assembly) and design for cost
Facilitate the design of jigs and tools needed for manufacturing of electrical system (PWA, harness, validation fixture, etc)
Inspect electronics for quality and reliability standards such as IPC-610 class 3, etc.
Analyzes manufacturing processes of electronic assemblies for potential risks and implements mitigation measures (pFMEA)
Investigates manufacturing process related failures of electronic assemblies and leads corrective and preventive activities
Optimize manufacturing yield during development phase - focal point to drive manufacturing to target levels, interfacing with engineering, eCAD, and Test to implement corrective actions.
Review documentation for compliance with eDFM specifications
Coordinate the prototype building process and ensure proper feedback (Prototype Build Report, Procurability Analysis) are given to the design team
Coordinate the CM transfer process with Supply Chain
Successfully complete required safety training, wear PPE as appropriate, observe health, safety and environmental policies
