Job Description:

In line with Shell’s goal to become a net zero carbon energy company by 2050 or sooner including partnering with our customers in helping them to reduce emissions from their use of our energy products to net-zero by 2050 or sooner as well, Shell Energy and Renewable Energy Solutions in North America are developing a menu of energy products and services to deliver against those goals.

What is the role?

Power Scheduler is responsible for daily and hourly submittal of power and transmission schedules in various ISO markets and Transmission Provider systems. The position will support Day Ahead & Real Time traders in evaluating various transmission paths as well as the timely and accurate submittal of scheduling of generation resources, scheduling of contract purchases and sales, real-time purchases and sales of energy/capacity and procurement and management of transmission resources.

Responsibilities:

Working with a team to schedule Shell’s physical power portfolio in the Western Electricity Coordinating Council (WECC).

Day Ahead prescheduling in the WECC.

Upload Day-Ahead Bids and Schedules to the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) for Shell or customer resources.

Buying/selling/re-directing transmission using OASIS web sites. Prepare OATI NERC tags.

Work with counterparties to set up paths and schedules.

Ensure tags and transmission check out daily for Rockies, DSW, CAISO, and PNW regions.

Work with Group to ensure scheduling system availability and reliability as well as direct enhancements as needed to increase productivity and business throughput.

Work with multiple groups to ensure accuracy of day to day and monthly positions within the systems.

Work with the Cash and Real Time desks to ensure power is tagged and to ensure schedules are communicated effectively amongst the teams. Responsible for knowing scheduling procedures in WECC.

Maintain and share knowledge of market rules in various regions.

Actualize volumes in internal systems as needed.

What we need from you

Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.

Minimum 3 years of experience in power market or scheduling.

Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, finance, engineering or any related field is required.

Proficient knowledge of the following programs: Nucleus, PCI, OATI, Microsoft Excel, OASIS Transmission Web based system, and PI.

Strong knowledge of Western Power physical markets is a must.

Effective communication skills to deal with internal and external customers.

Ability to work quickly in a fast paced environment.

Ability to work in a team.

High level of attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to multi-task in a stressful and dynamic work environment.
