Serve as a key member of the BMS Enterprise Information Management (EIM) team, accountable for the following responsibilities (will vary depending on position):
Delivery and support of strategically and/or tactically aligned analytic and/or data solutions in support of various functional Business Units (BUs).
Accountable to establish, maintain, and drive relationship(s) with Informatics and Predictive Sciences (IPS) / Business Insights & Analytics (BI&A) leaders and/or other analytic teams.
Facilitates development of analytic and data capability strategic roadmaps across analytic delivery teams, information architecture teams, and IT solution delivery teams.
Development of business case and/or investment justifications, where necessary and appropriate.
Creation and maintenance of data acquisition/operational focused capabilities including Data Catalog; Business Glossary; User Access Request/Tracking; Data Use Request/Tracking; Enforcement of Data Governance/Data Use Policies.
Responsible for the engineering and operations of EIM data processing and consumption platforms including AWS RDS/Redshift, Synapse, Paxata, Talend, AWS on demand runtimes, etc.
Work closely with Function BU aligned Data Capability Groups and vendors to establish consistent governance, access control and management processes for these platforms. Currently the management of these platforms is decentralized.
Advance the platforms to meet critical business needs and outcomes while balancing TCO and minimizing security/data risk
Responsible for Platform Engineering, support and operations which includes Incident and problem management, minor enhancements and break fixes.
Track total cost of ownership (TCO) and value capture for Data Processing and Consumption Platforms.
Actively monitor and mitigate any performance, scalability or sustainability issues with platform or application components.
Provide timely support to architecture and engineering teams for critical strategic projects and identify platform enhancement opportunities to better support project needs.
Develop and sustain target information architecture and roadmap(s) for Functional BUs.
Develop and sustain data strategy for Functional BUs in collaboration with appropriate stakeholders including Data Governance, Data Stewardship, Data Lake Build team(s), Reporting & Analytics Platform team(s), IT Business Partners, and Business Unit stakeholders.
Develop Functional BUs specific data architecture principles, guidelines, and standards. Influence Enterprise Information and Data Architecture principles, guidelines, and standards when and where required.
Drive information architecture decisions on Functional BUs data flows, conceptual data models, ontologies/taxonomies and hierarchies as needed to support the enterprise data supply chain in partnership with various IT and functional teams.
Ensure that the target information and data architecture is understood and implemented by the relevant IT Capability Delivery Team(s) and IT Partnering.
Represent EIM at key operating mechanisms like the Enterprise Architecture forums, Data Governance and Privacy Councils, etc. as needed.
Develop sustainable, reusable design patterns and best practices that can be leveraged by the enterprise.
Advocate data security and the appropriate use of information and data within the target information and data architecture.

Advocates the IT operating model and collaborates with the necessary IT teams for delivery, issue resolution, and communication
Communicates successes and issues accurately, urgently, and to the right audience, and takes responsibility for resolution and management of expectations across stakeholders.
Leads with urgency, courage, tenacity and respect to initiate uncomfortable conversations in order to remove roadblocks to value delivery.
Provide strong and supportive management of direct and indirect team members
Mentors and develops staff, where applicable, to achieve and exceed performance, and to sustain talent pipeline for the future.
Desired experience varies by role:
Experience deploying or supporting analytic or other data management capabilities in both cloud-based and on premise environments
Strong acumen and comfort with technical data and systems and associated IT processes
Knowledge and experience designing and creating scientific computing environments, and the specific needs of R&D data and informatics scientists.
Experience with Big Data, Master Data Management (MDM), Data Visualization, and/or Data Virtualization for both structured and/or unstructured data.
Experience collaborating within a globally dispersed, life science data team.
Ideal Candidates Would Also Have:
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience in is required.
Masters in Science degrees are a plus
Demonstrated experience in thoughtful inter-personal communications, change agility, and cross-functional partner relationships.
