This is an IT role that will be responsible for the identification, development, support, and evolution of analytic and data supply chain capabilities in partnership with analytic teams and Business Partners supporting Discovery Biotherapeutics within R&ED. Candidate is an expert in systems-of-insight and systems integration, is able to understand business requirements as set forth by the Business Partner, and translate into technical specifications and solutions that harness an array of advanced information technologies, analytics and machine learning services.
Partners with multiple IT development teams to ensure adherence to information, data, security, and solution architecture principles, guidelines, standards, and best practices. Drives implementation of and adherence to data models, data governance and/or data use policies in partnership with business owners and data custodians.
Key Responsibilities:
Owns end-to-end responsibility for managing technology assets, ensuring they are reliable, accessible, and secure
Defines multi-year digital capability roadmaps in line with business roadmap & enterprise architecture strategy, focusing on speed, quality, & cost
Manages Total Cost of Ownership (build & run) and the key drivers behind them to ensure solutions are cost efficient
Fulfills all approved, technology asset-specific business needs, and drives and maintains relationships with Business Units and Business Partners in Discovery Biotherapeutics and IT
Designs technical solutions to satisfy business requirements and manages the build and run of technology assets
Facilitates development of analytic and data capability strategic roadmaps and influences vendor roadmaps to align with BMS strategy
Accountable for creation and maintenance of data acquisition/operations focused capabilities e.g. ETLs, Data Governance/Data Use Policies.
Accountable for development of business case and/or investment justifications, where necessary and appropriate.
Key Competencies:
Experience deploying or supporting analytic or other data management capabilities in both cloud-based and on-premise environments for R&D scientists
Demonstrated subject matter expertise in one or more life science data domains including molecular biology, cellular biology, medicine, biotherapeutics or chemistry
Requires broad understanding of concepts, principles, systems and end-to-end processes across related disciplines; master data management solutions experience
Knowledge and experience with R&D data types and data flows for integrated analytics, and associated rapid delivery technologies
Able to manage a team of individual contributors and/or managers either internal or third party; develops plans and priorities and allocates resources
Proven ability to lead complex, globally dispersed matrixed teams and work within a highly-matrixed environment.
Directs resolution of complex technical/ scientific, operational and people-related problems that may involve collaboration to innovate new solutions
Maintains a high-level of customer satisfaction, sets clear expectations, maintains a professional attitude
Effectively communicates with clients, stakeholders, management
Requirements:
Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience, with deep expertise in a life sciences data domain, is required.
Alternatively, an advanced degree in a life science discipline, MS or Ph.D., with deep computer science expertise.
Demonstrated experience in thoughtful inter-personal communications, change agility, and cross-functional partner relationships.
Understanding of and experience in data modeling, data ingestion patterns, experience with building pipelines (Informatica a plus), experience in the AWS component stack (Lambda, S3, Glue, Redshift etc.)
Needs to be Proficient in Ontology, Knowledge Graph development
