What will I be doing?

As the Associate Platform Engineer Cloud, the candidate will be responsible for the engineering of Hilton’s cloud infrastructure platforms, and services estate. The candidate will be driving efforts around infrastructure as code, automation, platform support, and resolving escalations from the business and operations teams. Your work will be essential to Hilton and our customers. Our cloud environment supports key internal and external operations in the areas of renovations, mobile platforms, room availability, financial and other corporate systems, and DevOps. Hilton’s cloud environment is growing rapidly with opportunities for career growth, diversifying skills, and learning new technologies.

More specifically, you will:

Manage a robust project pipeline, coordinate with business and application teams on existing and new cloud patterns, and build solutions using infrastructure as code tools (IAC) and processes and other popular cloud tools

Find opportunities for infrastructure automation, improvements in configuration management, monitoring, and alerting, and build solutions for the complex cloud infrastructure challenges

Support the Hilton Hybrid Cloud environment, including escalation support for operations and support teams, participate in on-call rotations, and work alongside other engineering teams to ensure alignment to Hilton standards and processes

Create detailed engineering documentation using the Atlassian suite tools and use ServiceNow to engage production ITSM processes

Possess a thorough understanding of security policies and provide detailed guidance on vulnerability and patch management to the cloud estate

What are we looking for?

The success in this role will demonstrate itself through the following attributes and skills:

Knowledge and familiarity with a wide variety of AWS components

Knowledge of AWS SageMaker, SageMaker Studio, and other cloud machine learning technologies and deployment patterns

Familiarity with data science and data engineering concepts

Ability to use version control systems for infrastructure as code (IAC) and configuration management environments.

Linux shell scripting experience

Experience using ServiceNow, Atlassian tools, and Microsoft O365 suite for all workplace communication, teamwork, and work management

To fulfill this role successfully, the candidate should demonstrate the following minimum qualifications:

Three (3) years of professional experience within Technology or a related field

Familiarity with infrastructure as code and configuration management tools as well as proficiency in shell scripting

Willingness to travel as the need arises - 5%

It would be useful in this position for the candidate to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:

Bachelor’s Degree, or Associate’s Degree plus 2 years of Technology related experience, or High School Degree/GED plus 6 years of Technology related experience

Depth and breadth of knowledge in IAC tools like HashiCorp Terraform, Packer, Vault, and RedHat Ansible

Design or implement cloud automation processes using CI/CD tools like Bamboo, GitLab, RunDeck, or similar technologies

Expertise with security concepts around cloud technologies and network management

Expertise with cloud monitoring and alerting platforms to create, adjust, and recommend efficient configurations for complex cloud environments

AWS Command Line Experience

Experience with Microsoft technologies like Windows Server, PowerShell, and Active Directory
