Job Description:
The Data engineer is responsible for initiating, development & delivery of Data Analytic solutions in an agile fashion to provide data insights & improvement for business processes.
The Data engineer/scientists uses data and their analytical ability to find and interpret enriched data sources; manage large amounts of data; merge data from varied data sources; ensure consistency of datasets; create visualizations to aid in understanding data; build mathematical models using the data; and present and communicate the data insights/findings and produce and present results with dashboards. Broad knowledge of Wells, Development function, Technology related system, including Downstream’s application/Data.
Accountabilities (Digital/Analytics)
Accountable for preparing and Identifying Requirements for an Information and Data Projects
Accountable for preparing and executing a Work Scope within an Information and Data Service
Accountable for Final Review of the Service/Work
Accountable for the Closeout, Quality Review and Customer Satisfaction Survey
Responsibilities
Design and implement new big data solutions which support high volume and complex/varied technical data (Subsurface-surface), supports future growth, use latest big data technologies/techniques, is cloud supported and in-line with Shell’s strategies.
Challenge and advise - the successful Data Engineers are partners and consultants/collaborators, not just executors of process.
Design and implement modern data pipelines/ETL to extract, clean and process data in batch and real-time from different data sources.
Use the latest development, testing and deployment techniques to quickly deploy new releases to e.g. deploy new data pipelines and add data sources.
Help establish best practices around data governance, data security- and privacy (GDPR).
Work together with the solution- and data architect to the define the target data strategy.

Requirements:
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration or a related discipline would be considered a strong benefit.
Minimum five (5) years of experience as Data scientist/Analyst working with Advanced analytics tools with at least 2 years' experience with specific business domain.
Solid background in Information Management, Data Management/Science or Technology experience.
Proven expertise with BI tools such as Spotfire, advanced Excel functionality, Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx or QlikView/Text analytic experience (specific tool is not required). Demonstrated knowledge with extracting and combining different data sources, different databases or data warehouses. Not just end user experience, but also being able to join and transform data, understand data models and being able to create calculated columns and custom expressions. Candidate with strong Data scientist experience preferred.
Preferred Analytics Technology Stack - Alteryx/Data Integration, MATLAB, Visualization - Power BI/Spotfire, Programming Language - Python/R, Analytic Cloud Integration -Azure Stack, Azure Data factory, Azure Data lakes, Azure SQL Data warehouse. MAANA - Search Engine, Cognitive/Natural Language Processing Tools - Watson etc. Demonstrated ability to understand the user's business and process issues and implement solutions
Formal training in SCRUM and other Agile techniques would be a distinct advantage
Demonstrated ability to do user design and analysis.
Proven knowledge of Industry Data System or Solutions (Landmark, Schlumberger).
Demonstrated customer facing skills. Proven ability to understand business issues quickly and either translate these into solutions or provide detailed instructions for consulting staff.
Consulting experience is highly desirable.
Knowledge and experience in oil and gas industry.
