Job Title:
Business Development Manager, Connected Energy - Houston, TX
No. of Positions:
1
Job Description:
Connected Energy (CE), a team within Shell New Energies, positions Shell to capture value created by the decentralization of the electricity grid, the emergence of cost-competitive distributed and digitalized technologies and empowerment of customers with respect to their energy choices.
The CE team is responsible for developing and delivering a portfolio of new products, services and business models in the Downstream Energy space aimed at meeting the energy needs of our customers – residential communities, commercial, industrial, cities, airports, ports, eco-districts and mixed-use communities.
Our activity supports and enhances Shell’s current power trading activities and aims to complement the existing sales and origination activities of Shell Energy entities (direct sales to large customers) and their channel partners (indirect sales to residential and small/medium commercial customers). Today Shell Energy is active in North America (SENA), Europe (SEE) and expanding their footprint in China, Brazil, India and Australia.
The CE Business Development Manager will lead the development and delivery of Connected Energy projects in the Americas. As the team’s expert in investment structuring, the BD Manager will develop and own the commercial and energy models which underpin our investments. Working in partnership with our technical support teams, with our finance teams, and with our M&A and corporate support functions, the BD Manager will both build and procure market-leading solutions which enable us to, at a detailed and granular level, quantify the risks and benefits of our investments.
The successful candidate will primarily support the development of Projects in the Americas but may also support wider organization along with the maturity of other initiatives and opportunities across the globe. This role reports to the CE Head of Business Development, Projects & Delivery in the Americas.
Accountabilities:
Play the role of Business Opportunity Manager (BOM) in building out the portfolio of Connected Energy Behind-the-Meter asset deployment of distributed energy resources (e.g. geothermal, storage, heat pumps, solar, and CHP).
Develop and structure innovative, technically and commercially viable solutions to respond to the needs of Shell’s customers.
Build, maintain, and optimize financial models to inform major investment decisions.
Negotiate commercial agreements with customers.
Originate and maintain partnerships with strategic development partners, OEMs, and integrators.
Work cross functionally with technical, commercial, and legal stakeholders to integrate insights into investment decisions.
Set processes and maintain standards for data and process integrity.
Manage stakeholders within the Group to ensure practical deployment of projects, capture and share learnings of execution and monetization of opportunities.
