Your impact as a Data Engineer - Health Solutions AnalyticsOverviewThis position is a key part of our Health Analytics team at Aon. Our practice focuses on developing, delivering and scaling cutting-edge analytics solutions focused on client needs. Our team of colleagues excel at assessing customers’ business and health needs and enabling better data-driven decisions for their programs. The team is a mix of analytics experts, data scientists, analysts, data engineers, actuaries, and solution and innovation architects. Our group delivers or supports a wide array of reporting tools, special projects, and methodology development to address the complex analytic needs of our data-driven clients.Job Responsibilities:Collaborate with a team of experienced actuaries, data scientists, developers and business experts to build flexible and scalable data management and delivery tools to support Aon’s data, analytics and reporting capabilitiesDesign, build and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines from raw data ingestion through final data consumption by diverse applicationsDevelop and integrate an automated data validation and quality control mechanism throughout the pipelineAdhere to design philosophy emphasizing agile, efficient/simple/sophisticated and robust development to meet complex and highly dynamic business needsContribute to the design of our data lake and the development of all data assets and downstream warehouses/martsDiscover and develop opportunities for automation to minimize the need for manual intervention and streamline processingAssist in data security, permission management and de-identification processingMaintain up-to-date technical and operational documentationManage/run/improve existing SQL Server based reports and processesParticipate in migration of data from existing SQL server based processes into big data/cloud based platformsAssist with performance tuning and data lifecycle managementRequired Experience:3 years of experience in a ETL or data engineering capacityExperience with Python and R data pipelines and data automationConstruction of data pipelines ingesting large tabular datasets (insurance claims, medical, pharmacy, eligibility and human capital data) into database or data lake and populating a structured warehouse or data martStrong working knowledge with a relational database system (e.g. SQL Server) including stored procedures, SSIS, SQL Agent, etc.Experience with AWS, Snowflake, Databricks/Apache Spark, Redshift, technologiesKnowledge of data security and privacy practices and regulations, including data access controls and de-identification and protection of sensitive dataDemonstrable ability to convey technical information successfully to a wide variety of stakeholdersDemonstrable ability to pick up new technology and solutions requiredNice to haveExperience with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI)Experience working with medical and prescription drug claims dataFamiliarity with benefits or health administrative data including procedure coding, diagnostic coding, financial fields, etc. is a plusKnowledge of Agile Scrum and Continuous Delivery practices is desirableExperience with version control systems (e.g. Git)Education:BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalentWe offer youA competitive total rewards package, continuing education & training, and tremendous potential with a growing worldwide organization.We Offer You:A competitive total rewards package, continuing education & training, and tremendous potential with a growing worldwide organization.Our Colleague Experience:From helping clients gain access to capital after natural disasters, to creating access to health care and retirement for millions, Aon colleagues empower results for our clients, communities, and each other every day.
