SUMMARY
Bering Straits Information Technology, LLC, a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation is currently seeking a qualified Applications Engineer II in Washington, DC. This position will ensure the stable operation and efficient performance of various applications. Monitor and manage various hardware and equipment, including access control devices
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Must be able to provide periodic 24/7 on call support
Analyze application performance across the organization’s LAN and WAN infrastructure.
Identify and remedy system faults.
Perform research and development.
Administer hardware and software upgrades for security network equipment.
Develop, implement and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for network resource administration, appropriate use, and disaster recovery.
Perform network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation and technical specifications information.
Administer and maintain user accounts, permissions and access rights.
Recommend, schedule and perform system improvements, upgrades and repairs.
Interact with vendors, outsourcers and contractors to secure network products and services.
Provide performance statistics and reports.
QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION
Required (Minimum) Qualifications
Possess experience with network management and analysis tools such as Solar Winds
Must be able to obtain and maintain Top Secret level security clearance with upgrade to SCI.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics
Solid working technical knowledge of software applications, protocols, and standards;
Hands-on hardware troubleshooting experience
Knowledge of network security measures and of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
LAN and WAN infrastructure experience
Experience with on call support
Preferred
Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or related field.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Job is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse and multi-line telephone system. The work described herein is primarily a modern office setting. Occasional travel may be required. During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No supervisory responsibilities are required
ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS
As a condition of employment, may be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results to obtain access to military base. Must have reliable transportation to/from work a necessity and must be able to obtain access to military installations.
