What’s the role?
The Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) Engineer is to provide technical assurance and guidance associated with design, installation, operation and maintenance of SIS. Majority of their responsibilities will be in the Project/Capital phases, but will also support Run & Maintain for modifications, testing, and troubleshooting.
Health/Safety/Environmental
Maintain compliance with all mandatory training.
Participate in the MOC (Management of Change) process, where applicable & sign as Technical Authority.
Participate in Safety Environmental Operability Review’s (SEOR) and Pre Start-up Safety Review’s (PSSR), as required.
Participate in and comply with all SDP safety programs, training, activities and requirements.
Technical Assurance
Maintain regular contact and communication with the Site SIS Focal Point, Area and Unit support Control Systems personnel (I&PC) regarding projects within their areas.
Provide SIS Technical Assurance during all phases of the Project Process, i.e. Concept Development, Feasibility, all FED phases, final AFE development, construction, commissioning and start-up.
Provide SIS technical assurance for the detailed engineering and procurement phase of all projects.
Develop a thorough understanding of the SIS projects from a Control Systems and Electrical perspective (equipment, design, and specifications).
Identify any training needed to support ongoing SIS projects, long-term support of equipment and systems installed by projects for Control System Engineers, Inspectors, SIS Focal Point, and area instrument/analyzer craft.
Participate in factory acceptance tests of SIS hardware/systems and SIS integration tests with DCS.
Attend project-related meetings, as required.

Requirements:
Must have a legal right to work in the US that does not require sponsorship now or in the future.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required.
Minimum of ten (10) years of process automation, controls and instrumentation experience with significant experience in Safety systems commissioning, operating and maintenance experience.
Experience with Triconex or Emerson DeltaV SIS in engineering or run & maintain phase is a plus.
