What’s the role?

As the Senior Optimization Engineer, you will be the builder of our optimization engine. As the experienced software engineer, you will grow and develop this critical technical component on Power Digital Core.

In this role, you will work across Shell’s global power business, suite of portfolio companies, and Power Digital Core teams to deliver outsized value.

What we need from you?

Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.

At least a Bachelor’s Degree. Master’s or PHD is preferred.

At least 5 years of hands-on experience building production optimization models.

Techno-economic analysis of Energy Storage Systems, Optimal planning and

Experience in energy management domain, with comfort in energy asset optimization, asset control & data flow loops, and wholesale electricity market applications

Advanced degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, Operational Research and Data Science or Electrical Engineering.

operation of distributed energy resources (DER).

Strong fundamental knowledge of linear programming LP, mixed integer linear programming MILP, mixed integer programming MIP, quadratic programming, stochastic optimisation, graph algorithms and decomposition.

Proficiency in two or more of the following languages; Python, Golang, SQL

Good working knowledge of database technologies, SQL, NoSQL.

Good working knowledge of Python optimization frameworks and block model compositions (e.g. Pyomo).

Familiarity with open source and commercial solvers (Gurobi, CPLEX, GLPK, Coin, CBC etc.).

Experience with software frameworks and architectures such as Microservices, Docker, Pub-Sub messaging (Kafka), Kubernetes.

Experience developing applications on cloud-based architectures (AWS, GCL, Azure) .

Knowledge of neural networks, probability theory, stochastic systems, Bayesian inference, predictive modeling, supervised/unsupervised/deep learning.

Knowledge of natural language processing, IOT and edge computing.

Experience building and operating distributed systems on the cloud.

Experience working closely with data scientists and appreciation for their unique workflow.

Experience with machine learning frameworks such as Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, Caffe, MXNet.

Ability to create technical drawings, architectural products, and concept graphics rapidly.

Possesses a sense of urgency, strong organizational and follow up skills

Ability to collaborate effectively across global teams and communicate complex ideas in a simple manner.
