What’s the role?
Shell’s Industrial Lubricants business is facing exciting opportunities in both traditional and emerging markets. This requires the support of a resource with relevant deep technical sector experience. A strong understanding of sector equipment and the required lubricants to be used on them is needed. Experience in working closely with customers to add value through technical innovation, driving down total cost of ownership, as well as troubleshooting complex issues, is essential.
Accountabilities:
Provide project leadership and technical expertise on lubricant services that help Shell and its customers in analyzing problems, generating solutions and advising customers, supporting, when called upon, the front-line technical support (LTA) and the account sales teams. Operate across the assigned territory and play a key role in the development and retention of existing business and enhancing Shell Lubricant’s reputation in the marketplace, above all within global and regional accounts.
Transfer and aggregate strategic and operational technical knowledge between Technology, Product Application Specialist, global product management and operational portfolio management teams to front line technical and sales teams, including knowledge received from and passed to, OEMs and customers, utilizing this expertise to build world class services.
The Services role is proactive in developing internal and external relationships, coaching front line staff and providing marketing support such as assisting with new product launches and field trials.
Provide Sales Support, work closely with Key account Managers (KAM), and Local Account Managers to develop high level technical support required for specific customers. This support will link to key account plans, particularly in the Suspect, Prospect and Approach activities.
Co-ordinate the local Technical teams to collaborate on delivering services solutions that deliver value to OEMs and customers. Assist with analyzing results, develop and present “reasons to believe” data in a variety of written reports for both technical and commercial audiences, or via verbal presentations. Coach front line field technical advisors, account sales teams on product application and how to identify, anticipate and resolve application problems.
Support the marketing teams in the delivery of Sector specific Initiatives, launch of new products by assisting with the production of the technical content of appropriate materials, based on their involvement in field trials, expert knowledge of the application and an existing customer base, and knowledge of the opportunities the new product represents in the market place, including training of relevant staff.
Manage aspects of feedback loops to the Marketing and Technology Teams regards trends and issues associated with technology to support identification of opportunities for next generation products and services in the given sector.
Analyze / solve complex customer application problems. Interface with product application specialist, global product management, portfolio managers, product development teams, account sales, local Technical Advisors, specific OEMs as appropriate, to reach and implement an appropriate solution.
Transfer the learnings from front line interactions back to Product Application Specialist and technology team, especially, changes and future needs from OEMs and accounts.
Pro-actively seek to develop and deepen own application knowledge regularly.
Build relationships with our marketing teams, our field staff, and OEMs – to enable a well vetted service to be successful in the field. Influence OEMs use and advocacy of Shell products. Work with the OEMs to develop ‘reasons to believe’, case histories, and enable field trials in the market place.
Through OEM/industry wide relationships and customers, analyze the market including equipment development, and new competitor products, passing key information that may impact Shell’s business through the internal networks, product development, marketing, and strategic product management teams as appropriate.
Provide strong technical support by learning the services that exist and determine how Shell’s technology capability can be differentiated from our competitors’.
Due to the high importance of this role, the applicant will be expected to be well versed in a variety of industrial settings.

Requirements:
What we need from you
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemistry or comparable technical background skills.
Minimum (2) two years in a technical lubricants & applications environment.
Minimum (5) five years of total experience.
Have engineering knowledge of and / or experience in the specified Sector.
Experience in a customer facing role beneficial.
Demonstrates interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
Proven ability to manage customer expectations and build up relationship with mutual trust.
