Job Description:
The Deepwater Technology Production Chemistry team is consisting of a team of engineers and scientists with primary mission to identify develop and deploy solutions for the prevention and management, of blockages and deposition in wells, subsea, flowlines, and pipelines. This encompasses the delivery of research & technology development and some associated technical service for Deepwater, in the production chemistry/flow assurance areas of asphaltenes, scale, emulsion and foam; applying this across the entire production system from near wellbore, through subsea flowlines and topsides. The overall objective is providing solutions to reduce CAPEX / OPEX and increase production through improved management and mitigation of impairments in our worldwide assets and facilities.
As a Research Chemical Engineer position in the Deepwater Technology Production Chemistry team, you are expected to have some experience in above areas of flow assurance/production chemistry, with knowledge in asphaltenes and scale - experimental and phase behavior. In this role you will interface with the Deep-Water Technology flow assurance team, and the broader disciplines in the assets and projects teams.
You will also:
Independently execute end to end R&D programs from development through deployment in areas asphaltenes and other PC/Fa technologies.
Provide critical technical support to both Operations and Projects in relevant technical areas such as asphaltenes and scale
Collaborate with other teams / organizations to actively manage interface of own work with related activities.
Seek input and support from other specialist areas, inside and outside Shell
Leverage vendor, university, and Joint Industry Programs.
-Act to steer and guide these programs and to disseminate results / recommendations to Shell community
Maintain awareness of business changes and technological developments to identify new areas for production chemistry R&D;
Demonstrate technical competence and be regarded as a technical specialist in own field of expertise;
Responsible for HSSE of laboratory activities for own programs / projects.

Requirements:
Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer both now and in the future.
-Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Petroleum Engineering, or Physics (advanced degree is preferred)
5 years' experience in Upstream production processes, complemented by good knowledge of related disciplines;
Has a good understanding of competitor technologies and Exploration Production long term objectives in own field
A combination of both previous R&D and field experience in process chemistry/flow assurance area is a plus
Experience dealing with field solutions or actual operations and field assignments is a plus
Expertise in asphaltenes, experiments phase behavior
Expertise in scale, experiments and modeling considered a plus
Passion and ability for innovation and technical idea generation coupled with excellent judgment in field/application practicalities
