WHAT YOU BRING
Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering or related field or a combination of relevant education, experience, and training
Technical certifications preferred
Minimum 6 years practical experience with machine and equipment safety, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated technical experience applying ANSI, OSHA, NFPA and CEE standards, as they apply to machines and equipment.
Demonstrated ability to develop, write and efficiently implement safety programs and training.
Proficiency in conducting root cause investigations, in driving continuous improvement and in training others’ in critical thinking.
Experience in efficiently leading external service providers
Partnership skills with demonstrated abilities to both work collaboratively and strong in influencing and impact skills
Highly effective written and verbal communications skills
Excellent problem-solving techniques and quantitative, analytical skills

The Global Machine Safety Program Manager is instrumental in developing and implementing a comprehensive machine safety program integrating regulations, Nike and industry standards into the equipment and machines globally used in manufacturing. Under the direction of the Nike Air Innovation Manufacturing (AirMI) Global EHS Director, this role works in close collaboration with AirMI engineering, production, maintenance, facilities and other Nike EHS teammates and partners to develop and implement sustainable programs and elite safe practices.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a history of being an effective influencer engaging partners from different geographies, have practical manufacturing experience and be well versed in regulatory requirements and machine safety standards. Strong performer capable of working autonomously and partner on complex projects.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
The primary responsibility is to provide strategic direction as well day to day support developing and leading comprehensive global AirMI Machine Safety program in compliance with Nike’s Machine Safety Code Leadership Standards, ANSI standards, regulations and other requirements. Including program development from identification and drafting of requirements through successful field implementation.
Ensure compliance with requirements for machine safety, guarding, electrical safety, LOTO, and all other regulations related to the machines and equipment used in manufacturing operations.
Stay abreast of emerging legislation, informing leadership of potential impacts
Develop, implement and sustain a comprehensive stage-gate process with Engineering for integration of safety standards in all aspects of new machine development.
Develop, implement and sustain an auditable program to meet the 100% safe machine target in accordance with Nike’s Code Leadership standards.
Participate in Engineering’s machine life cycle change management process and provide technical support for Machine Risk Assessments, FAT & SAT.
Manage and periodically update AirMI’s LOTO standard, procedures, and training with internal partners.
Develop standards and training with respect to AirMI machine safety.
Facilitate incident and near miss root cause investigations, and identification of corrective and preventative actions as they relate to machines and equipment.
Serve as safety SME in all continuous improvement efforts related to machines and equipment with engineering, maintenance, facilities and production
Support internal and external inspections and audits. Provide technical support and oversight as necessary to ensure action items are closed by responsible parties.
Produce regular summary reports and analysis on machine and equipment safety key performance indicators as directed by site leadership and EHS director.
Develop strong relationships with business leadership to ensure machine and equipment safety is included in facility and asset planning.
Perform other duties as directed by the site leadership and EHS director.
Partner with Engineering to drive a Culture of Safety globally in Machine Safety, LOTO, Electrical Safety and other machine related safety programs
